With headcount 25k out of our total it usually means preparing for a merger or closing doors/sell off. Of all the talk no one seems to mention this or ask about it.

If Google were to buy Cisco it would only be for Meraki, not the traditional networking stuff.
Yeah no one is going to buy Cisco. It is a sh– show culture wise. Why bother dealing with all of it rather than creating out of
What is the 25k number?
"they/GCP desperately need a enterprise sales team" - even if this is most important metric Google is looking for in their acquisition to increase GCP to catch up Azure/AWS, Cisco is not desirable. As an example, VMWare market cap is 1/3 of Cisco's and they are deeply connected to enterprise customers like Cisco. VMWare would be much more attractive.
A more likely scenario is to spin out security apps and collab as a new entity. think of the alphabet model of an empty shell company owning other companies
I'm willing to bet the average ELT member is smarter than the average person reading this.
Unlikely
That is exactly what Google did to Motorola. They ate the parts they wanted and dumped the parts they didn't want.
The reason for GCP to take over Cisco is they desperately need a enterprise sales team. They almost purchased PA network but the fit was not solid.
Most likely Cisco would go down just like Cabletron. Enterprise Sales and the enterprise products would go to GCP along with the cash.
Anything legacy that GCP wouldn’t want would be parted out, and sold off. I am sure ELT is figuring and playcat to GCP overlords now as the paycheck is a game changer for them.
Remember in the end it is always about the money. Cisco from John to Chuck are sales people not engineers. It’s about making a buck or lots of them.
Once you clear the anger, look at it from a pure money stand point the only logical solution is for Cisco to sell out to the highest bidder.
Good times are coming .... let’s get past the bad days we still have ahead of us
I'm willing to bet the average ELT member is smarter than the average person reading this. If you've been impacted, get over it....no point in living in denial as there are apparently 7000+ other people suddenly in the job market just like you. My advice is 1) get in the job market now. the longer you wait, the longer it will be to find a new home. 2) Hang on to what ever shares you have. If you truly believe this drivel that Cisco is being positioned for sale, then keep your shares for the uptick when (if) that happens.
Why would a cloud provider acquire Cisco? A cloud provider has the expertise to build their own switches and routers.
This is what someone else came up with today
the ELT might not be as clueless as everyone thinks. Are they greedy? Yes! They actually do have a vision and a plan.
Microsoft have been in talks to buy Nokia (network, not the phone) to augment their Cloud portfolio.

The ELT saw this and are positioning Cisco to be sold to one of the major cloud providers (use your imagination here... GCP best guess). To do this, they need to trim not just payroll but everything down to their bare bones. Not to mention find ways to ditch some of their lesser performing products and BUs.
This is exactly what Michael Capellas did to Worldcom back in 2006 right before he sold it to Verizon. Want to guess where he is now, which board of directors he sits on, and who Chuck is listening to?
The bottom line is the ELT wants a big payday and cash out. They are going to continue to aggressively trim the fat until Cisco becomes a viable take over target.
The kicker
Capellas is on the board of directors for Cisco....
Maybe ELT is not stupid?
