Returning equipment

I’ve been gone from Allstate for well over a year and just got a letter in the mail that my equipment was never returned, threatening to take “more formal means to obtain Allstate’s property or that property’s monetary value”. Thankfully I had the... — read more

The longest two weeks

After I quit, Allstate literally swamped me with work like never before and now I’m wondering how to survive the last days here. I’m probably not the only one who had that experience? I wanted to leave professionally, honorably and quietly, but... — read more

Sad state of affairs

With my team, it's like a revolving door. Good people are jumping ship and I can't blame them. In addition to layoffs, there's a silent exodus happening that nobody is acknowledging. I shouldn't be surprised, they want as many people gone as... — read more

ACRONYMS

I have worked for Allstate for quite a few years. Due to the manner the divisions are isolated from each other and a lack of transparency from above, may I suggest WE STOP USING ACRONYMS when posting about particular work units, locations, etc? ... — read more

AllState and Chicago. HO

I am no longer with Allstate after a 25+ year career and even longer family career. I was four when AllState became a part of my life because my father became an agent and GREW this company. AllState changed as corporations do because profitability... — read more

Takes from our town hall today

When questions of layoffs came up all they would say is we are in a long period of change and that we need to remain open to change. They would not deny layoffs when asked for "yes or no". One brave soul asked if lack of transparency is ordered from... — read more

Claims Disaster.

There are 119 adjusters in my zone handling a combination of 23676 claims. This comes to an average of 199 claims each (rounded up). Mind you this is the AVERAGE. We have some adjusters over 400, and the majority of those under 100 are new... — read more

What is happening with ASDU?

Haven't heard a peep out of here and we are going straight ahead with projects and process building and business as usual. Doesn't seem at all like layoffs going on here.

How sure are you that there will be severance?

I don't have any insights, but I'm a little worried about the likelihood that there will be no severance in the next rounds of layoffs (when they happen). Honestly, I’m still here just for the severance pay, which I wouldn’t want to miss out on... — read more

Offshoring is destroying us

Let's face it, whatever work gets offshored it ends up dropping in quality significantly. This is not me trying to say that we are inherently smarter, just that there is a language and background barrier that prevents people from outside of the U.S... — read more

Things will get even uglier

I think that all those who decided to waste their time here, hoping that they will be paid to leave or be able to quickly find a job in the future, have made a huge mistake. It may sound pessimistic, but I think it will be just the opposite of... — read more

Current Allstate is an embarrassment

I would not admit to ANYONE that I work for that band of vipers….. A total embarrassment. I would rather say I work for the mafia as a bone breaker..

No…not every company does this….

There are American companies whose CEO gave up pay increases, paid bonuses to front line workers or similar good will…..most are privately owned… Coincidentally, those companies usually have the best customer service or results because those... — read more

Why do we say that all the talent is long gone?

This seems to be the general argument within the company when debating the reason why things have gone worse. However I donćt find this to be the truth. There are a lot of long time talented employees still at the company and I had the opportunity to... — read more

Whatever happens it was great working with you all

Don’t count on severance…

A big focus right now is how to control severance as the next few rounds of layoffs hit..There is talk of moving a large number of people to vendor reporting so when they are laid off, they would not be entitled to Allstate severance. Unknown what... — read more

Predicting over 8000 layoffs coming up

Based on all the info I am hearing and seeing and with most areas going under almost full control of foreign contractors and moved to India with added automation factored in. And that includes a lot of high level directors and head honchos.
