Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Advertising

Allstate ads have totally disappeared..
TG is working so well that money set aside for advertising needed to be used to control margins….
Great job Tommy and Glen…..

Svp and other marketers got to make friends with Alicia and jaunt to foreign countries to shot ridiculous commercials. That’s whats important.

ads are for the call center traffic. Agents have to spend their own millions

Allstate hasn’t been a great company for over 20 years. The agency system is too expensive to compete, even after all of the commission cuts. It was in a downward spiral long before this management team was in play. Too many Monday morning quarterbacks posting on this site. You all are certainly entitled to your opinions, but in my view the company has been a mess for very long time.

Allstate leadership will never create a plan that will consistently compete with Geico or Progressive. This leadership is always behind and playing catch-up…Allstate is no longer a leader in the industry and never will be again….
Allstate is the next Sears which is not coincidence as these leaders only know the same worn out and obsolete play book….
Geico and Progressive now set the pace…and Allstate only knows how to
Beat down their workforce..

They accelerated advertising into a margin crisis, when other smart competitors pulled back. Glenn has been clear on that point, thinking he outplayed Geico and Progressive. Of course, with focus on expenses, now they are cutting the spend (not eliminating) for remainder of year. They let us have the under priced business, which will lead to higher losses and rate need. This guy still pulling short-term levers a full 4-5 years into his turnaround strategy that has yet to yield organic growth. All growth has been acquisition, which could've been executed independent of all this chaos, given prior net income levels.

Compared to a year and a half ago when Tommy rolled out the new advertisements saying that it would revolutionize the industry, the number of Allstate ads is about 1/10 of what it was. The OP is correct and in fact corporate advised that they were dropping continued plans for saturation as the margins were a larger priority right now…
That advertising campaign was doomed
From the start..The commercials were awful..

Transformative Growth failed the minute they left Wilson and Shapiro's combined $30+ million salaries on the books. We could have been rid of these wastes and so much further ahead and not just in terms of money.
