Thread regarding CVS layoffs

I got laid off immediately before the last push of changes to an internal product we were developing. My boss continuously told our team that we were part of a ‘safe’ corner of the org because of the $$$ we brought in.

The layoff took place weeks after a big family trip to Disneyworld we had just taken. Oh, and right before the holidays.

I had survived 3-4 (I lost track) rounds of layoffs over the years and secretly thought if I made it through the last round of layoffs I was safe.

This isn’t intended to make anyone feel cr-ppy- it was just my reality. Large corporations do not give an eff about any of us. We’re all resources to them, not humans with kids and mortgages and healthcare needs and Christmas coming up.

@dc Confirming Accordant is sunsetting by the end of 2027. Current employees are encouraged to continue their roles while looking internally for a new job.

Can someone confirm whether to not this is PBM Customer Care (customer service) or specific departments?

Lol..Medicare laid off a bunch of people during open enrollment.

Its about profits per quarter.

1) True that a lot of calls are taken at vendors and offshore - has been that way for years. 2) It would be ridiculous to lay off during Open Enrollment (Oct - Dec) or Welcome Season (Jan - Mar.)

Been working at cvs for a long time and they typically do layoffs JUST before Halloween so then you can go trick or treating angry af with your kids.

Correct yes. The individual correctly identified that we’re outsourcing customer care calls, however, seems odd we would facilitate layoffs right before welcome season. Hoping anyone with more information can share.

Not true. CVS doesn't do layoffs!
