Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

October layoffs

Anyone know if large layoffs are coming in October ? Aymon mentioned in town hall that large layoffs were only if a company had a profit problem whereas Opentext has a revenue problem so sounds like no cuts ?

@1f8 , and insiders sell shares because they don't share the CEO's desperation.

@1cf ELT awarded every month and sell shares. Only CEO is "buying", for now

Don't worry, Todd's new GTM model will turn this all around.

@mw By all the negative reactions it looks like people didn't get your humor by adding Beep Boop at the end. I got it. I'll give you a positive reaction. :)

@f8 come to office talk to people, only one problem I need to talk to people in COE in India, whose hours is not align with mine. Awesome. And 16 dollars for lunch and soda, yep, alright. Is free parking during work hours counts as a benefit now?

Wave 2 of the July GTM WFRs is in October. There is also a separate WFR brewing around changes Ayman is making to the new GTM strategy (because it's not working as planned).

@OP This question occurs with sickening regularity, and the answer is always the same.

There will be no official "layoffs" because those have obligations, like severance, and WARN notices.

The standard practice of driving employees away with horrible treatment, and forced stack ranking with quotas for those to be reduced "for cause", and replacing them with cheap COE replacements will continue. It's the only tool they have to improve short-term metrics.

Long term, nobody wants to buy dead products staffed by substandard cheap labour.

Layoffs are tradition in OT. There are more managers on calls than engineering. Pay off your debt, live below your means and stock up your daily food. Brace for raw couple of years.

@ay it's never looks great, so layoffs are imminent. I mean business as usual

The stock price. It's never anything other than the stock price dictating WFR. And right now, it's not looking great.

To the long post/rant just before me: Amen! You just captured what many of us are thinking. I’m operating under the assumption that I will be let go by December, and am planning accordingly. Stressful way to live/work, but hopefully less jarring if something happens before I get to exit on my own terms.

@ah he also said in the town hall we're being given 'recommendations' outside of him. We're supposed to know those soon, but if those also still recommend reorgs or more layoffs, he said he would follow them.

If you're not at a CoE, it's not impossible to say it's not over yet. Some CoEs like Ireland already got additional headcount to come.

Well you can't have profit if you don't have revenue, so yes, there will be cuts unless OT can bring in sufficient funds while trying to stop the hemorrhaging of customers leaving.

@OP

With CEO Ayman Antoun taking the helm in early 2026, OpenText announced a structural reset for fiscal 2027. Management is shifting $100 million to $200 million into expanding AI capabilities, cloud infrastructure, and partner networks. In corporate restructuring, reallocating capital into new focus areas typically involves downsizing teams tied to legacy or non-core business lines. So its business optimization framework involves continuous workforce rebalancing. Employees working on legacy on-premise software products face higher risk of restructuring than those in high-growth divisions such as sovereign cloud, cybersecurity, and enterprise AI infrastructure.
