Anyone thinking of leaving since we can’t wfh??

My buddy works for Starbucks, makes more than me as a real estate guy, and gets to work from home full time. Honestly, at his $200k a year, makes me think I should leave this dinosaur industry and I won’t have to deal with being laid off in 10 years... — read more

What level do employees get stock bonuses?

I am curious at what level employees get stock bonuses. I am a senior Landman and I know I don’t get stock bonuses. Is it only manager level or so individual contributors get stock at a certain level?

No place to go

I have been looking for a new job for almost 5 months now. I'm already getting a little worried that I'll have to stay here for a long time, but I don't want to accept a smaller pay just to get out of here. Who is still here just because they... — read more

West Texas APC

How many APC employees that moved to West Texas after the pay cuts actually received all of their wages back including their upkick that was part of your wages back from OPC?

Very quiet lately

Why so quiet lately? Is it because you have been told that anyone caught posting will loose their bonus? Or is everyone happy with all that is going on.

Dealing with a culture of blame

Oxy has become a complete mess. The company is so disorganized that I really don't know how anyone can have hopes that anything will change for the better here. In addition, there is a culture of blame here. Managers don't seem to care that... — read more

How many meetings is too many?

To many meetings is tiring, highly stressful and takes away from productivity and quality of work. I really don't see the point of so many meetings which are mostly badly run and lack clear purpose. After each such meeting, I feel like I don't... — read more

So what’s the level at Oxy?

I’m at a major right now and we’ve had a moderate level of people under 35 move on (or get moved on). These were ‘engineers’ who didn’t know how separators or heater treaters worked, didn’t know a gate valve from a ball valve or what the difference... — read more

Intune and location tracking

Today I saw a pop up message on my phone regarding allowing Company Portal (I checked it to be Intune app) to track location. I wonder what is the purpose of knowing location for this company app.

Makes no sense

If the vaccinated can still get and spread covid (which they can) then why in the OSHA mandate are the unvaccinated the only ones who have to wear masks and test weekly?

Age of Management & Differences

Have any of you noticed differences in managers younger than 50 and managers over 50? I have and am curious to other’s observations and experiences.

Is it possible to have a good work/ life balance here?

Let’s just say that overall I don’t have too many complaints, I’m happy with how much I’m paid, but my priorities have changed and I need more work/ life balance. I would like to dedicate myself more to my family, but the offers I received mean... — read more

Anyone Age 35 & Below Thinking of Leaving O&G?

This industry is just too volatile and with all the climate change talk, who is thinking of leaving? It sounds like VH isn’t planning to give bonuses any better than any normal year despite record profits for the company. Just doesn’t seem right to... — read more

I don't blame the younger folks for leaving

A lot of people I know are angry at the younger generations for being quick to quit their jobs and leave for greener pastures but I can't find any fault in that. The time when a person was rewarded for making their career in one place is gone. The... — read more

The more you work, the more work you receive

There's no winning here. I don't know if this is a company-wide issue or if it's specifically my team issue but to say we're overworked would be an understatement. I make sure to stay on top of my work and finish everything in time but it's become... — read more

What is keeping you here?

Why do you stay at Oxy? What would you say to convince someone to stay rather than looking elsewhere? Or why are you considering leaving?

Looks like the attrition slowed down a bit?

For a while I thought all my colleagues would leave. No one has given notice for a long time now. Is it that most of those who intended to leave have already left, or do some still intend to leave after the New Year's?

Vaccine Mandated

Well, apparently Oxy is joining the “forced vaccine” crowd. I received word yesterday that we have until March 4 to become fully vaccinated. It isn't the entire company, just our department. Curious if this is going on anywhere else here.

Thought?

Disorganized company

While this is true of many large companies, I don’t believe there are many large companies that are more disorganized and dysfunctional than this one. That’s my opinion, but perhaps someone disagrees that this is a disorganized company? — read more

2 years since the Great APC Resignation

It’s been 2 years since most of the APC crowd left due to the COC. As one of those, I’m interested in returning once my 24 months is up. How welcome would those who left on good terms be? Happy, Indifferent, or Hostile since they were gone when the... — read more

Omicron Variant - WFH Again?

With the omicron variant likely being in the US now, and it's ability to bypass the vaccine, do you think we'll go back to working from home again?

The Great Resignation

It is amazing what the tech job market is like right now. I was just a kid during the dot com bo-m in the 90's, but it feels like it's approaching that. A lot of technology companies became mega rich(er) in the last 2 years, and now that everybody is... — read more

Are you better men?

Back to the office?

Colorado and Denver are having a huge spike in Covid infections. Yet we are returning to the office. Back in August, when Texas was spiking everyone got sent home. Seems odd.
