Today I saw a pop up message on my phone regarding allowing Company Portal (I checked it to be Intune app) to track location. I wonder what is the purpose of knowing location for this company app.

“ Nobody in their right mind would risk their life by taking a place at Oxy.” I’m a recent retiree from Oxy. Yes, it was perilous, but I managed to make it thru every day by the skin of my teeth. Can’t tell you how many times my life was hanging by a thread but I managed to survive. Working for OXY is ultra dangerous, but I chalk my survival up to my military training and my keen sense of recognizing when danger was just around the corner. My advice to those looking to work for this company is go somewhere safer. Maybe become a navy seal or shark wrangler. Turn back while you still can.

Being reachable during business hours is a requirement of working here. If you cannot be reached then you should be terminated. There are many who would take your place.
Decline the phone subsidy and reclaim your phone. If they insist you must be reachable, ask them for a company phone, which are no longer being handed out.

Care to point us to the specific company document containing the "fine print" you reference?
In case you didn’t read the fine print the company owns you 24 hours a day. They require you to disclose any outside work you do if any, tell you what you can say about the company, what dr-gs you can put into your body even on your own free time, etc. So tracking your location is just another thing they do. That is the price to pay for a very nice paycheck and great benefits.
Are you required to share location?? This is insane!!? Please disable location services for the app because this is a violation of your privacy. There is no way that it can be legal for a company to check your location at all times. Not to mention if you have a laptop, you could theoretically go to those shared office buildings to work. Don’t accept someone tracking your every movement. It is wrong.
All those who are lazy whether working from the office or from home should be fired. Of course with Oxy that means once found out they still have one to two years to continue feeding from the trough. The lazy incompetents keep getting more money, raises, bonuses, and maybe even LTI. This needs to stop. It is an insult to the good and excellent workers.

It is to make sure employees are at their work from home location and not shopping or playing golf or at the beach. It is about time that the company tighten down on this behavior that is costing them lots of money paying for people not working.
