Is anyone on this forum not working on their exit plan?
Ranked against the son of a VP
I’m in drilling and a well known VP has a son in my group. What do you think the chances are he isn’t flagged a high potential and pushing out the rest of us for a top spot in the ranking. Helps to have a famous last name.
A lot of job openings
There are a lot of job openings at competitors in the Permian. Take a look. Never hurts to interview and confirm if you are being paid enough
Unfair NSI
I know a person who is really a big slacker and NSI, but also a person for whom I do not understand at all how he ended up in NSI because he is a very good employee. So a person who doesn't like his job at all and a person who works hard are... — read more
Resignation Check List

If you think your skills aren’t competitive
If you think you can’t get a job outside of ExxonMobil apply at other oil companies. They are still hiring. Many options if you are willing to move to the Permian.
Rewarding toxic behaviors
It demoralizes me terribly. Why is the company rewarding toxic behaviors? Isn't that working against itself?
Attrition slowdown
Attrition has slowed down. Indicates to me that most people can’t make more money at other companies. So why all the complaining?
Leave if you are ranked low
Decide now what you expect your ranking to be. If you don’t receive what you deserve resign and go elsewhere. Complaining on this board without action on your part is not going to lead to different outcomes for you.

You have a big target on your back. If you are NSI best to accept reality that you are better off working at a different company.
Options
You have options. No need to stay at XOM if you don’t like it. Nothing is more common today than changing jobs to find a place that better aligns with what you want. What is stopping you?
If you can’t find a different job
If you can’t find a different job then the problem is you not the company. If you haven’t even tried looking for a different job the problem is you not the company. Stop blaming the company. If it is so awful at this company then leave. — read more

Policy Changes
I'm considering interviewing for a role in Exxon. I see lots of negative feedback, which makes me hesitate. Can someone share a policy change that was enacted based on employee feedback? What was the impact across the organization?
Expat program improvements
It looks like some of the most egregious parts of the expat policy are being fixed, with the new communication. Hilariously, the email seemed to go through extreme lengths to explain how the old policy was never ‘wrong.’
