VMware Explore opening keynote

What was everyone's impression of the opening keynote at VMware Explore? I couldn't make it, but I heard everyone applauded for Hock, except for one guy that booed? Also, I don't know why any customer would applaud Hock as he's about ruin the... — read more

Replace ESPP with?

Great question on the AMA channel today: "Since the 15% discount on the ESPP stock purchase is part of an employee's total compensation package, what is VMware planning to do to make employees whole?" ESPP was considered a benefit and part of our... — read more

Tanzu Buyers

Since many seem to think Tanzu will be spun off, what are people’s opinions on who could be a potential buyer?

Hock going to slash and burn

If you're not part of the core business, expect to be let go. Hock is famous for smelling waste and doesn't form committees to get rid of it.

What is my VMware stock worth on sale closure to AVGO?

For those who hold VMW stock and want to know what AVGO is actually going to pay when the sale closes I put together a simple formula to plug into a spread sheet. When the announced sale was made the $142.5 VMW price was based on the the values of... — read more

"We are going to focus on our top 500 customers"

Heard this recently. No surprise at all. The financial geniuses at broadcom will probably open Excel sort customers by spend and cater to them and let every other customer go to h*ll. 80/20 rule. Fire your bottom 10% of customers. Etc.

Another one bites the dust. Chief of Staff for the Office of the President at VMware resigned. There seems to be a lot of high profile resignations recently..

I'm quiet quitting until the acquisition

I'm well aware that when the acquisition goes through chances of me still being employed are very low. So instead of overexerting myself and doing much more than is my job, I'm going to do precisely what my contract says and no more. Then I'll take... — read more

We work hard for the money...

The individual contributors in the field work hard to bring money in to the company. Sales works hard, SEs work hard, PSO consultants work hard, product engineers work hard, TSEs in GS work hard, and so on. And so it really sucks to see this hard... — read more

VMW Special cash dividend

I'm surprised noone mentioned this cash dividend VMware paid about a year ago now as one of the possible issue we faced. The cash dividend was actually a huge sum like 11Billions mostly gone to DELL shareholders. As the dividend wasn't really... — read more

The first, and last, VMware Explore

Why after all these years, did they change the name of VMworld? Did corporate marketing really think that was going to increase attendance, and brand recognition?

Raghu

Can someone please help me understand what Raghu did over his many years at VMware, that made him worthy of so many promotions, and eventually the CEO position?

Marketing is Toxic

The marketing team at VMware is toxic. That's it, that's the post. Feels like a sorority/fraternity. Loose IQ points everytime I speak with someone from there. I won't be upset if they get the chopping block.
