And you all believe in everything that the VP said, don't you. Well, let me tell you, when my company got taken over, the VP and Directors said the same thing to us. But after we were merged and six months later, they chopped us. It all depends on the financials. At the end of the day, it depends on the budget. Money talks, and you'll be walking out the door. Do NOT believe anything these executive tell you, that is their job. They want to make sure the talented people do not leave the company before the acquisition because they want Broadcom people trained on the various VMWare products. Once they are trained, you are out.
My suggestion is you start looking for a job. Forget about the severance. Getting a job while you have a job is a lot easier. And you won't have to continuously hear from your family members, "Did you get a job yet ! ". Don't be so stupid and think that Broadcom VPs are going to save your job. They are trying to save themselves from failed projects. Their entire bonus is dependent on deliveries, deadlines, and happy customer.
