STB wants answers

https://www.railwayage.com/regulatory/stb-to-up-explain-embargo-escalation/ Stb wants UP to explain limiting rail car traffic.

Does anyone expect anything positive to happen?

We are lacking people. Employees are overwhelmed and exhausted. Year after year, UP is becoming an increasingly bad workplace. We can only guess what's next and in what ways they could make our work here more difficult. I no longer have hope that... — read more

Happy thanksgiving

I’m thankful for all the fathers that laid off today to be with their families away from the railroad because UP won’t give us a valid contract with reasonable time off.

... while the iron's hot!

The ruling class has not been able to understand our situation! Each person must save himself/herself first. Not one ruling class leader or company executive is on your side.

Someone forwarded, is this real? "Since management has refused to negotiate in good faith regarding changes in retirement benefits, we have no other recourse than to begin our strike at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, March 15. We will remain on strike until an... — read more

Strike

It’s looking increasingly likely that there will be a potential US rail strike, which would cause major disruptions throughout the supply chain. 35-40% of all ocean containers move by rail. There is not enough trucking capacity to make up for the... — read more

Conductor Job back on the chopping Block!!

Thanks to the yard workers who have days off. Conductor jobs are now back on negotiating table. But on the bright side most of the yard jobs will be taken by conductors who will lose their jobs, and will now have days off.

UP is still going to win

Whether we strike or not it is going to be the same song and dance. If you don't like it, get another job. It's simple.

"Railroading is not for everyone"

Although I generally agree with that statement, I think it is very problematic because it somewhat implies that railroading is a very difficult and tiring job, that is, that it cannot be made any better. Instead of advocating that this should... — read more

Everyday is 12 hours minimum

Everyday, Every train, On call, No off days besides the 24 hrs they hold you out to reset. We don't get paid enough for this. Who's hiring?

A quick question

Have you ever had a worse job experience than the one at UP? I don't think I will ever be able to adapt to this workplace. It was a big mistake for me to apply here.

I quit 2 months ago!

Best thing I did! Just received a back pay check. Didn't think we were going to get it. Finally the union did something right. Oh by the way, the grass is greener on the other side.

Carloading is having a downward trend

What does that mean for UP? Are they going to furlough before Christmas? They have to make profits. It's not a good sign for us. Just think all the people they are training, for what? This company doesn't make any sense.

Back pay

My back pay coming on November 18,2022 . Time to strike on Nov. 19.
