We are lacking people. Employees are overwhelmed and exhausted. Year after year, UP is becoming an increasingly bad workplace. We can only guess what's next and in what ways they could make our work here more difficult. I no longer have hope that anything will improve.

Both eastern roads have said they are changing how they are operating; they are no doubt hearing from their stockholders how much business they've missed out on this year. PSR was sold to them as a growth strategy, and investors now realize that it was a shrink strategy. Only a matter of time until the same pressure forces changes. Some core elements of PSR will continue, but the mindset of trying to operate a railroad with as few people is possible is going to become DOA.
(let me put my fire suit on) I do think some improvement is possible in the future. Not bcuz management will “see the light” and do the right thing. But bcuz management is so stupid and has screwed things up worse than ever before they will ultimatedly have only one choice as things continue to decline. Throw money at it. Management cant manage, as everything continues to deteriorate and failures continue to increase, no “magic” CEO is gonna pop up this time. Now whether its the hapless tax payers that fund a bailout or the stockholders get what the company is really worth as billions are needed to rebuild this mess? We will see
