Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Was it a response to NVIDIA not wanting Dell?

The drastic cuts
Restructured comp plans
Hold-out on commission payouts.
Gunning for EPS and headlines.

NVIDIA would never move to reduce its revenue-per-head (RPH). Our executives should not be offended. It’s not practical to compare Dell RPH to NVIDIA. Server production (and rest of Dell portfolio) in a predominantly direct-sales model will always yield higher operational cost than chip manufacturing in an alliance/OEM model.

MD should be proud of the massive company and portfolio of products he built. Dell ranks only slightly below median RPH compared to similar businesses.

The long-term strategy (and legacy) would be to treat employees well. Don’t go down like this MD.

There was a study of CEOs to name the top two AI companies. The majority chose NVDA and DELL.

@gm agreed. SuperMicro has a 5.1M RPH.

What would the purpose be for NVDA to acquire DELL? Nvidia already develop DGX servers, if they wanted to go after more of the commercial server market they could do it but it would require building a huge sales force and logistics engine. They already get the Dell salesforce without having to reduce their profitability. I could see NVDA acquiring Supermicro before Dell.

A NVDA/DELL merger would be a win-win for everybody.

NVDA wants nothing to do with Dell. They know Dell is an outdated, inefficient dinosaur, run by incompetent greedy execs who have no idea what they're doing. Nvidia could easily build their own server line (rumor has it they will) because they already have a far more powerful supply chain structure in place.

@a5 it’s a reflection of the balance sheet. RPH is a direct reflection of operational efficiency and always coincides with net profit.

Accenture is not an equal comparison to a manufacturer.

Dell and Nvidia are two entirely different types of companies. Plus RPH isn't how you measure success. Example, Accenture has 800k employees and is worth less than Dell
