@b9 Maybe that's the intention.

Well I just received my email and my term date is NOVEMBER 2027. What a waste of time this was! They made it seem urgent and gave us dates of Sept this year, then maybe out to Dec, then later we heard maybe early next year. So ridiculous. All that worry for nothing. 14 months from now? Certainly not urgent

@ay I wonder if that means layoffs are the following week

@b2 Speaking from watching MANY large corp like Centene, they NEVER hit the WARN report. NEVER. United healthcare, Humana, etc. NEVER hit WARN reports. I never have figured out why these large companies are allowed to do this. Other than their corp offices are in Missouri, so they do not have to report WARN to each state.

@b0 For Florida - who has been asking about WARN -
Certain situations trigger the WARN Act in Florida:

  1. Plant closings affecting 50 or more employees for at least 30 days.
  2. Mass layoffs involving at least 500 full-time employees.
  3. Mass layoffs involving at least 50 full-time employees, constituting 33% or more of the employer’s workforce.
  4. Plant closings or layoffs extended over 90 days.

@b0 True --- Over half of the states, including Missouri, lack their own state-level WARN Act. However, this doesn’t mean the workers of Missouri are without protections. Federal WARN Act regulations still extend coverage to employees in Missouri. The state requires employers to submit and issue WARN notices to workers, providing information on anticipated mass layoffs and plant closures, along with details on the number of affected workers.

Some states are not only regulated by the federal WARN Act, like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona, and Florida, but have their own requirements and regulations specified in their so-called mini-WARN Acts. These states include: California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and more.

@az and keep in mind this is not triggered by VSP numbers or if the lay off number is <50 per state/site though each state has different laws as well

@aw The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act is a U.S. labor law that requires employers with 100 or more employees to give 60 days' advance notice before plant closings or mass layoffs.

Notes that the VSP call line will be active until August 7th. Also states to let your PL know if you’re approved and that VSP will notify PL’s by July 31st.

There is an updated "Employee FAQs" document on the VSP website (updated 7/27). There is also an "ICHRA COBRA document".

@am the earnings call is useless info that we will already know. Why do you care, if there is a mass layoff then a notice would have been published 60 days in advance. The investors are only going to hear dollars saved and that will entail an aggregate not a breakdown as you think. How foolish to mention the investors call. Enjoy your waste of time and they play armchair quarterback. Id--t

Does anyone expect Centene to send an email to everyone if enough people took VSP. One would assume since we expect a lot to take VSP, involuntary layoffs should not be necessary afterwards right?

Corp offices are in St Louis which is Central Standard Time. This will be a bankers hours email timing. Not EST.

@af Even though I don't believe anything that this company says, I have spoken to HR twice within the past 2 weeks & she said VSP emails would be received by 7/27. 🤷‍♀️🙏

Don’t expect a delay last today. Tomorrow is Centene’s earnings call. Would think they’ll talk about the VSP effect on future earnings and the charge against earnings for the severance packages. If they don’t the analysts on the call are sure to ask about it.

Dont expect an email first thing this morning. They will want to get a few hours of mental abuse out of you. Go watch some tv for the time being. Its not worth white knuckling through your breakfast. Come back at 10 and see your 1x1 email that says 'check in'
