We're supposed to have layoffs on November 20, and yet every day somebody posts about this or that group being affected by cuts. Are people lying or is there really an ongoing pre-layoff happening, and if it is, what's its point?

Verizon Connect lost 28 last month and more is to come. That was the start at 10% and the wave is coming for the rest of Verizon in the coming weeks. Dan is going to rip the plaster off in one go and get all of the bad press out of the way. Stores will move into the online sales to reduce costs and line up with the rest of the companies. No point in worrying all of the decisions were made back in June at the closed door meetings and now it is just a matter of letting everyone know.
When you don’t need as many people for the job, layoffs and packages are gonna happen . This place has been so bloated for so long, time to trim down and get people off the VZ teet.
It's part of the excellent culture at Verizon. Distract people from doing their job while hemorrhaging customers, cause anxiety and fear in employees and their families and make changes that feed the rumor mill to make sure everyone is on eggshells. Next week will be interesting. Great to be a V Teamer!!!
Ahead of a major layoff, they will axe leaders of impacted groups. Then have the main layoff followed by a reorganization. This is Verizon SOP.
They started at the VP levels and trickling down. Need to have the new organization and leaders in place. Everyone else is next week. Think about it, can’t do everyone at once and then reorganize.
Great point
