Do you have your popcorn ready?

Who else is tuning in this morning to see how our CEO will inspire or demoralize us?

Yes, an avp and director are no longer with company because of the HALO failure.

He talked a lot about accountability today. Accountability for employees. What about accountability for his disasters decisions over the past decade? Why isn’t the board holding him accountable for putting us into all of this debt?

She Giggled. He Grimaced. She Joked. He frowned. She looked across. He looked down at his sneakers. She said she was younger than him by five years. He looked down.

How much money 💰 did we lose on ServiceNow? How much did we lose on Halo? He blamed everyone for these problems but in reality, only one man signed off on those worthless systems and it wasn’t me

The “stooge” on stage asked totally ridiculous questions instead of asking :
1“Do you forsee when you’ll be retiring”?
2“Do you regret hitting SEND on that unpleasant, rude, email pertaining to the survey results”?
3“You mentioned we’ve failed at implementing new systems. DID ANYONE from IT lose their jobs over the colossal failures ServiceNow and Halo implementation?

Who was that snarky seal sitting next to him, feeding him softball questions that he couldn’t answer?

I was so embarrassed for him and the paid stooge on stage with him. He said we used to be like McDonald’s, but now we gotta be like Target. Excuse Me? Target is failing these days.

“ I'm selling my Yugo and getting myself a Porsche.”

In this economy, the wiser move is selling the Yugo for an old plow horse or a mule to ride.

"He said investors are the most important stakeholders."

Interesting since almost all the employees are investors at some point through the year. He must have been talking about one, specific, bald investor.

"So expect more layoffs until our number is just as good."

This is especially true since Stank does not know how to grow anything except his ego. He-l, he cannot even grow hair!

You forgot employee levels . . .

136K, 99K, 105K . . . ATT, VZ, TMO respectively

He said don’t live your life like a Triangle. Live your life like A Square Box.
I’m not kidding.
The only shape I could think 🤔 of was a Round Circle. ⭕️. His bald head is round and he talks in circles

@b5 Here's a free tip...you're always talking about how we have the most Fiber and most/best cell coverage in the market. How about we advertise our brand as something prestigious that people want to be associate with? Instead of dancing like circus monkeys throwing $50 visa reward cards and begging people to sign up with us by showing some beta male figure acting like a tw-t, how about we actually lean into our superior network and market ourselves as elite?

First, we have to get there and stay there for 6 months!

Our CEO made it clear in his address today that this is now officially a dog, eat dog organization. It is always been that way in the past, but now he is not hiding it anymore. By saying it’s not about loyalty, but rather about commitment, he is defining market based culture as cutthroat both internally and in the market. He was very clear. His most important stakeholder group are investors. Customers and employees be damned.

“ Verizon makes more profit per her employee than we do.”

Yep, we knew that was the metric he was trying to hit. That just confirmed it. So expect more layoffs until our number is just as good. I wonder if he even thought that we aren’t the same company. We own the pipes and the connections, Verizon does not. They use our backhaul most of the time, just like T mobile. Those companies don’t have the field ops workforce like we do. That’s why their revenue per employee is higher. Without ATT that connection isn’t happening. That’s why we have more workers and a lower revenue per employee. I don’t think John nor the investors get that.

I haven’t ever seen a man so despised. Congrats John.

And don’t confuse “despised” with “feared” and respected. Cause that ain’t it either.

Want a synopsis of all of the post survey meetings where the poor ADs and Directors have to come up with action items to “fix” everything? Here it is:

John is despised.

He did not try to dig himself out. He doubled down. He said investors are the most important stakeholders. They are more important than customers. They are more important than employees. He said none of us have done our best work and he emphasized that the investors are concerned that Verizon makes more profit per her employee than we do.

Well, he tried to dig himself out. Unfortunately for him, I don’t think it’s going to be possible with the current company culture. He’s lost the room and all his credibility with the employees. He needs to step down.

@b5 You're missing the ""Just OK is not OK" from a few years ago. Stellar! Award winning! or when they tried to go urban and used the area codes to show how they are local. I agree, our marketing team has been terrible and a revolving door. But understandably, they are marketing an inferior spectrum to TMO.

Love how there was clearly an assignment given for this particular thread today. Some SVP or VP said "I need you and your team to go downvote everything. They keep saying mean things about us!!"

I feel sorry for you if you're on that team asked to do this. It's pathetic but also a great example of how misguided this place can be on "priority" assignments. Regardless, it didn't work. If I see a snack cart going around HQ soon, I'll know you were on the team. Cheers.

“ John is up there praising TMO's marketing and saying we can learn from them...ok,”

If he really said this then maybe should ax the consultant-slave CMO he’s had for the last 5 years and poach TMOs (their British guy ads aren’t exactly great either). But according to Kellyn (the CMO) if only we used her overwrought mess called “The Blueprint” we would rule the world.

@b5 We've seriously been giving kudos to TMO and working on how to "attack them" for almost a decade now. At some point just waive the white flag. It's over. And thanks John for giving them all that spectrum and cash. You created this mess.

Snack carts will be deployed today to celebrate. Probably closer to 3 or 4 PM locally to make sure you're truly in the office. Snacks = true office collaboration.

John is up there praising TMO's marketing and saying we can learn from them...ok, John, since your team is on here and reading these here's a free tip. Our marketing team su-ks ba--s. We already try and imitate TMO marketing and we're horrible about it. Our ads are cringe. "Live like a Gigillionaire!" Really? Who came up with that corny a-s sh-t? So damn embarrassing. Here's a free tip...you're always talking about how we have the most Fiber and most/best cell coverage in the market. How about we advertise our brand as something prestigious that people want to be associate with?
