Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Two decades wasted

Two decades of service, and my biggest hope is getting cut with a package.

Some of us worked for WF when people truly cared about their jobs and customers, and it was legitimately a great place to work. YoS was commonly used lingo and printed right on formal recognition for it. All of this only sounds weird if you're new here.

20 years is about 2/3 of an average full-time work career. Corporate work can be soul-su-king but certainly hope you appreciate that you made it this far. BTW, I have been Googling "how to stay sane at my job," so I think we are on the same stagecoach.

@mr
What raises are you talking about?
Averaging 1.5% over 20 years? That's what I got. Along with empty promises of promotion and then reorgs blew those agreements away. Been standard MO for years on my LOB.
I wouldn't go so far as to say my time was wasted but it could have been better spent elsewhere and that is on me. Due to where I am at in my career it made sense to stay.

Two decades of service. What are you in the military? This is a job. They paid you to come in to work and possibly up skill yourself. Regular raises and decent bonuses. You gave nothing. You were PAID

@eq Yes, an internal HR complaint combined with a Ethics line call will make for many meetings and headaches for your manager. If you think you're on the way out anyways, what do you have to lose? Make their life h3II

@eg sue sue sue, Ethics line, EEOC complaint. Anything to make your managers life hard, they do it to you, why not do it to them?

@bm SAME EXACT here. The question is, will they whack without severance? Time will tell. I'm going with no, they want to avoid court.

Things don’t have to be linear. Reorient your thinking. You got what you needed for many years from this company, extracting value from it. So it wasn’t all wasted. Now on to your next adventure.

Hang in there. I feel the same way- what a waste of a career. But I have to look at it another way too. I was getting paid. If you can make it through the day and end the week with a paycheck count yourself lucky.

I was whacked after 29 years, took my 14 months severance, threw away all my wf cr-p (including all the documentation for all my systems), and never looked back.

Cheers!

Was laid off after 25 years and it's the best thing. Excited to be out of the toxic environment. Saved and invested well for that time period and am retiring early with 12 months gift. Thanks Shart.

Shameful management, file a case if package is denied after so many years of service

Good thing you saved and invested wisely OP or that'd be a real problem! You did save, right?

You do know that getting termed excluded you from severance.

it's tough looking back and realizing you were around the wrong people and being other places would have been smarter. I look back with regret on my time at WF too because they wasted my time, lesson learned.
