Have you heard anything about potential UnitedHealth layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

@56h how widespread and the scale is still up in the air for sure
@3p4 Obviously the source was correct. Also no one in their right mind is going to release their source as it may blow their cover.
@OP a lot of supervisors and managers were laid off today on both the Optum and UHC side
It’s all true. I was let go today due to “downsizing.”
There were layoffs today all over M&R. Reasons given were poor company performance and stock losses.
Layoffs started today…. 6 week severance package…..UHC is shady….
Not sure about UH but Optum is getting hit 1/23

They are letting some people go this morning claiming they have to "cut for business"
@3nt and your source is?
UHN Layoffs coming soon.
@1h8 Thanks for the update! It looks like this is the latest revision of the policy from last time when they offered it to everyone. We're ready to buckle up and take it on!
It seems like the number of weeks of eligible severence pay decreased from what was offered earlier this year. Plus, it is also adjusted based on your grade level.
@1d0 I have not heard but I dont think they will because they know this time half the company will jump on it.
Wondering if anyone has heard if they will offer another voluntary resignation severance in 2026?
@18g anyone telling you they know is lying. we don't even know if there are going to be layoffs
@154 That's not true
Does anyone know when it's on the UHC side? Lay off 2026
@154 Bonuses? What bonus lol
@OP there are weekly layoffs here. Rumors of a huge round or two before bonuses are paid out which means Q1 of the calendar year.
@pp that would align with that audit communication they sent out. Hopefully a good thing and not negative
They did update the policy 7 days ago for reduction and forced downsizing when you search it in Sparq. It was shown to me I don't know what it means but they changed something on it.
@ex based on what evidence?
@ej that's funny, because that's not the experience I've had over the past 25 years. Not everyone is like you
Optum sight is reporting 1/22 as a big layoff date but who knows.
@ea
Isn’t “ Cynical “ the business model of Healthcare insurance companies ?
Its core product isn’t health—it’s risk management for shareholders. Patients are a cost center. Care is an expense to be minimized. Suffering is just an actuarial variable.
We pretend insurance companies exist to help people when they’re sick. In reality, they exist to make sure as few sick people as possible receive as much help as possible. The spreadsheets call this “utilization management.” Patients call it being denied.
@e8 that's a very cynical way of looking at things
Well, it depends if the money they made this year is enough .
UnitedHealth Group (parent of UnitedHealthcare) reported very large revenues in 2025 — in the hundreds of billions of dollars. For example, full-year 2025 revenue outlook was $445.5–$448.0 billion according to official filings. but 2025 has been described publicly as a year of transition, with profits not as strong as but 2025 has been described publicly as a year of transition, with profits not as strong they dreamed… on.
Meaning
If they had denied more claims , more money would’ve been made.
So layoffs may substitute denial of claim for future profits.
@c1 LOL 😆 😂 🤣 😅 So true.
Well I am thinking everyone is good for the next two weeks at least. We have the next two Thursdays off
@OP Nothing on the UMR side
