Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

Layoffs coming soon?

Are there any other rumors besides restaurants product for layoffs coming up? I feel like one is coming soon. It’s too quiet and it can’t only be that one department.

Quietly there was a layoff yesterday. The names of the RIF'd include a few that I know. Praying that they're able to find a new position sooner than later.

@yd I know for a fact when we contracted through HCL there were people that worked multiple HCL customer contracts simultaneously (For example, being contractors at both NCR and HP at the same time) and were paid bonuses by HCL to keep their mouths shut. "Mouse jiggler" apps were rampant so that they'd appear online/active while they were on their other laptop working for the other company.

@mr They must not do any worker audits in india. Meaning that the indians must be able to just work whenever and however they want. In the past, I had to meet up with indians and work with them for a while (transfer knowledge). I had to work at night with them during their day. But they would log on an hour and half late. Meaning I stayed up late, waiting for them to finally get on. Then they would leave randomly for an hour or two, probably to go play on their phones. Lunch for them would be a couple hours in length also. And finally, get off early. So, add it all up, the indians I worked with put a total of maybe 3 hours a day of work in. Even less if they were working at home and not at the hydrabad office. And that 3 hours of work was just nasty as well - with all of the honking of cars in the background, their horrible internet connection and electricity going out. Why anyone would want to work with those people is beyond me.

@mp The Indian team, at the direction if US based management, constant closed tickets without solving the problems. The high metrics caused bonuses of the US based management to spike, while causing product quality to suffer. If you were US based and refused to close tickets until the customer problems were resolved, you received a poor rating and your job ultimately went to an Indian.
It's over now. NCR market share has collapsed and NCR is effective no longer in the software business. A corpse remains to service dinosaur customers who can't see the writing on the wall.

@bn actually the restaurant group started to go down when bill nuti bought radiant, decided his NCR silver POS was the new way, and put a few americans to work on it, and 100 indians to work on it, who never did any work. Instead of putting money into aloha, which was the number 1 seller at the time, to make it even better, he created this new one from scratch, which is now in maintenance in india.

Restaurants, yep that group has just been a big tu-d since Benny took over. Look at his bio, no time in restaurants or food service. You cant execute what you don't know. Seems to be a theme for all of the LT.
