@bq that's a good point...I think that 45 day thing is tied to the law regarding age discrimination (age 40+). Seems like there were an awful lot of people in that category (most of the people I know - I know of two who were not).

@bb Oct2 is the first day to sign (earlier could mess things up, from what I understand). You should have 45 days to review the agreement but please take a look and make sure.

@b0 I'm sure the earlier you sign (Oct2 or later), the faster you'll get it - just be careful and make sure you're comfortable with the terms. I am definitely not! Sorry this is your first experience with a RIF - there are better ways of doing this as I've seen on the outside and even previously here with others. As a longtime employee and former advocate of this company, I'm highly disappointed with how this went down.

@a8 same I sent an email too but no response or even acknowledgement of the email and the deadline ti sign is October 2. Not sure what happens if I don’t sign until I get more information about my workday documentation and other questions answered. Any guess? Please do inform us of what your lawyer says the date they gave is bogus because my friend previously laid off said we have 30 days to review not sure where Oct 2 is coming from.

@a8 yes, it is a total blindside! For some reason I was thinking we would get bi-weekly pay as normal with no interruption (I have NEVER been let go from a company), however this seems like we could potentially not see a severance whether lump sum or biweekly for some time?

The only thing I can think of is if your biweekly payment would go into next year and it puts you in another tax bracket range to get it all this year instead. I am not an expert and not even certain if I'm going to sign this thing. I asked for modifications Friday and no response yet. I have this feeling they aren't going to budge, so I'm already talking to attorneys. This is all crazy to me...totally blindsided and in the middle of dealing with a serious medical condition. I believe the agreement said the payout was within 60 days and we have 45 days to review...given my poor experience with short-term disability and our payroll department, I would not be surprised if they pay out at the final hour or even late.
