Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Layoff Severance

Never thought I would think so negatively about Centene because my experience over the past 4 years has been awesome. I missed the VSP cutoff by 2 days due to my official FTE conversion date, but I don’t think I would have applied anyways.

Curious though, if laid off September 1st, what are typical (non-VSP) severance packages like at Centene?

Been for with the company a total of 8 years. Was laid off in 2020 and came back 2021. Big mistake. Company has went down tremendously. They started off by taking our bonuses, then the $50 we received for internet. Centene’s culture has changed for the worse since London has taken over. She gets paid this crazy salary while taking from those that’s put out all the dumpster fires. One Centeam is a joke. One London is what is should be called.

@OP my understanding, if you get the email it shows your base severence (laid off circumstance) and then it should show an enhanced amount (mine was only 3k more) if you get accepted to do the VSP.

I wonder if we don’t accept and still get let go of if we get the same number of weeks offered in the VSP just not the 4 week enhancement.

@a4 do you know the Archer policy number that speaks to non VSP severance? There’s a VP and above policy but what about below VPs?

Centene …. Whoever is here from the C Suite …. Take note….. many ppl in this company know and will say all they know of the fraudulent actions of this company in many state plans …. Be prepared…. This will not be a clean cut deal of a VSP and all the bs that follows

@a7
1) they took our performance bonus away and gave it to mgmt. It no longer "trickles down" to us. duh

2) I need to find out "subsidized" COBRA amounts.

3) other than Sarah's email, no one in "people leader" position has reached out. We did get a woo woo email about Friday's holiday reminder from our direct supv & from Cheryl C. Radio silence from all of them. I envy those of you who have REAL leadership

4) been here 15+ years & this offer is insulting. If I say Yes, and if they decline letting me go, I'm sure I will be put on the "soon to be layoff" list. LOL!

2 weeks or per service years

It must depend on length of service because I’m at 20+ years and my offer was 39 weeks + 4 weeks. And one of my coworkers who has been here a year longer than me got the same offer.

my parent was laid off during the last mass layoff in 2023 and they received ~$65K in severance. they had been with the health plan for 10 years.

they were called back a few months later and declined the offer. they said it's a shame what's happening now.

It’s sad we are all going through this torture. They should be cutting the fat at the top before letting all the worker bees go!!!

The absolute minimum they give on a RIF per archer is 1 week per year of service.

While there is no industry standard most companies give two weeks of pay for every year of service. It's usually capped at 6 months. Companies who really want to get a high take rate will do 9 months or even a year in rare instances.
