Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

10%

Imagine getting 10-percented, losing your job with no severance package, after working hard for a multi-billion dollar company for decades, just so the executive team can save a little money and look good to their investor overlords. Smh

That’s a lame response. They are expensive and risky which is why we need to stop making the same mistakes.

Wells are expensive and risky. It’s part of the game.

If we look at the percent of wells attempted versus completed, it’s pretty staggering. And then even the ones completed… weeks are often required to get isolation.

@js are you seriously so slow you don’t know the difference between production optimization and capital wastage?

Lightning Donkey alone has crapped away over a quarter of a billion dollars in drilling failures in recent years. Upset puppy and the lost city aren’t far behind either.

How many wells have we had to abandon before completing them, or have compromised completions? How many wells have we blown the budget on? We’ve wasted hundreds of millions the last few years on operational train wrecks.

@f7 where are the train wrecks you are referring to? GoA production is high, cost are going down and we are all treated fairly and do challenging work. Can you be specific than coming up with generalized negative comments that have no basis?

MGal is top 10? Look at wells performance. Trainwreck after trainwreck. Where’s the accountability? He should be bottom

@ey lol, Mike isn’t going to call you dude. He is only where he is because he’s hanging onto his daddy AK’s dongle. The epitome of favoritism.

Speaking of couples that need to go… AK is just a perpetuation of the good ole boys liar club. Make tons of slides saying what you want the truth to be while hiding the real news from your bosses.

Add on top KK literally moving around like something circling the toilet bowl that just won’t flush. Why do we need a Group Leader as a VP of logistics?!?

Send them both packing and save bp a couple mil a year.

Let us rate our Senior Managers and above (E) and above who would be in the 10% pool. Please be honest and not let your personal issues get in the way of our leadership ratings. We could also rate the top 10%.
My top 10% MGal as a start.

I know multiple people sacked through the 10% process, with no severance. It’s happening in GoA subsurface commonly, at least.

@ar the fact that the 10% scenario hasn’t been clearly communicated is enough reason to be concerned.

@OP There’s a lot of dramatic language here, but not much substance. We don’t have any evidence of anyone being let go through this process, let alone people with “decades of service” being dumped without severance. That’s speculation dressed up as fact.

And comparing this to some kind of investor‑pleasing purge ignores the reality that every major company runs performance management cycles, it’s not unique, sinister, or new. The difference is whether it’s applied fairly, and we simply don’t have the data yet to claim otherwise.

If we’re going to criticise the process, it should be based on what’s actually happening, not worst‑case hypotheticals. Otherwise we’re just amplifying fear rather than dealing with facts

@OP my only question is what protected activity did you engage in that they decide you were a risk to eliminate. Medical leave? Whistleblowing, using their speak up channel which may as well be - identify yourself as a problem we need to eliminate because we have no ability to self reflect.

There is a class action forming for retaliation PIPs and firings. It’s become their personality at this point
