You get paid out on all unused pto , I had maxed out at 350 hours and that was a very nice check to get , I also got paid out on the personal hours from last year and this year which was an extra chunk of change ( my state allows them to payout on personal)

Depends whether your bargained for (typically wireline union) or non-bargained for (typically wireless) and state you file your income taxes. As for non-bargained for wireless you get your PTO + 2 weeks pay for every year of full time employment.

My vacation payout was close to $15K. Bank it so you can have the extra payout when they cut you.

Vacation is paid out for what is accrued up to 150% as usual (if final day of service lands after the 16th of the month you'll be able to accrue that months allotment). Depending on the state you are in personal days can be paid out. Sick/UIA for sure will not be paid out for any state so use it or lose it. Time is usually paid out after your final paycheck (separate paycheck typically) and of course, is (subject to) taxable income.

Only accrued vacation days are paid out, not the total you would have received in the year.

Also on the rare chance you went negative on your PTO days (using days before they are acrued) you owe that money equivalent back to VZ.

You get all vacation days paid out, but not personal days.
