Shouldn't we unload one more thing in 2016

For a tax and remodeling standpoint should we sell one more thing before the first? Lowering our debt for next year would defend against interest rates and give us the ability to pick up acreage and grab rigs as prices recover. Do it Lee you can... — read more

Law announcement

One of the very high ups of the law department is leaving the same way lance and JR left. Seems like this place is a revolving door. Funny they literally have revolving doors at Marathon.

MRO = super chickens

Research W.M. Muir's chicken experiments published in 2013. These experiments prove exactly what is wrong with the MRO culture. Let's go lay some eggs the more productive way!

No TAP For JR and Lance

So I just read the latest 8-k. I guess poor JR and Lance didn't qualify for TAP cuz there jobs didn't get eliminated so they have to make do with the same sweet nothing other folks get when they get run off. Hahaha joking! Turns out JR got away with... — read more

Marathon Jobs

I see there are a few jobs posted on the Marathon Oil website. I assume that most people on this site are Marathon employees. I see some negative comments, especially about HR. Are things really that bad? Would anyone recommend pursuing opportunities... — read more

Websites are reporting MRO is bidding on roughly 42,000 acres in west Texas. How could MRO possibly afford a $2billion dollar acquisition?

Questions about our strategic direction

The first bullet in Lee's response to the findings of the employee survey noted widespread questioning of the company strategy. Relying on high cost resource plays while selling cash generating assets seems counter intuitive. Without any exploration... — read more

Layoffs?

Heard of a facilities engineer that was let go under the TAP last week in Dickinson. Are others being plucked one by one at other sites, or was this a one-off event?

Who quit this week?

I have not heard any names this week and I feel left out. To prime the pump, there are still jobs at Newfield and EOG. I even imagine Apache is going to be looking for a couple of good folks.

Does this MRO-UHC lawsuit mean we can fire the VP HR?

Just making suggestions that will improve the bottom line. Hiring someone who knows what they are doing is usually better than hiring someone that fakes what they know. Even if they are younger and run Marathons and laugh at the appropriate moment.
