Plano HQ

An article posted that the Plano office looked like JCP was moved out. Is there any thought of where HQ will relocate if and when remote work shifts to a flex onsite set of options?

JC Penney Layoffs 2021

Make a prediction and tell us what you think about JC Penney Layoffs 2021? Any news or rumors?

Any news?

Disclaimer - I left JCP a few years ago, but I've been there long enough to make some lasting friendships and to actually feel a pang of loss when I heard it might be gone for good at some point. But there is little to no info on what's going on... — read more

Things are about to get worse

The only reason we were bought is so the new owners' malls wouldn't lose their anchors. They are not interested in running a retail operation. They just want to keep us functioning with least possible costs (as somebody already mentioned.) Expect... — read more

It's official

If your store is in one of their malls, I'm guessing you're safe. If it's not...I'd start looking just in case. JCPenney has inked an asset purchase agreement (APA) with Brookfield Asset Management, Simon Property Group and a majority of its... — read more

Severance Pay in Installments

This can't be! Installment payments..,what in the world is going on? It's as if they told us this in advance but I never heard this from the company until now. My take is that they should just pay us all of our severance and let move on.

Can I be certain my store is not closing?

My store is an anchor to one of the few malls that are still going strong and we still have surprisingly good sales. Can I take this as a sign that we are safe from closing any time soon or is even that not enough to be certain, considering the new... — read more

JCPenney Outlet division could have saved this company

The Outlet stores were shuttered about a decade ago and were very profitable. The CEO at the time didn’t want outlet stores associated with its namesake.....so we were told. There was a third party who purchased most of them but then quickly folded... — read more

https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/13/business/jcpenney-survival-outlook/index.html The agreement gives the company a much needed lifeline to keep 690 stores open while it sets about closing another 149 stores ahead of the holiday shopping season. It... — read more

Closing Date Changes

Sept 27, 2020 original closing date with exit date of Sept 30,2020. Now they are changing the game when some of us have jobs lined up to report to and holding our severance pay over our heads. What a disgrace on their part! We have agreed to hold... — read more

So what exactly happens on the tenth?

They get saved or more closures? Potential of closing every single store? If only some are closed, any particularly vulnerable locations?

Will there be more closures besides the 21 up for auction?

Weren't there supposed to be 220 closures? There's been 140ish. I previously asked when the next closures would be on here and was told November. Where does it say November I start working at a non closing one soon in Ohio

JCP 4eva !!!!

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/16/business/jcpenney-bankruptcy/index.html Sad. JCP won’t necessarily liquidate bc there’s no value in liquidation . So the building might remain standing bc falling over isn’t much of a relief.

Furloughed associates
