Sept 27, 2020 original closing date with exit date of Sept 30,2020. Now they are changing the game when some of us have jobs lined up to report to and holding our severance pay over our heads. What a disgrace on their part! We have agreed to hold up our end of the bargain and they change in the middle of the game. So now we either walk away and forfeit our severance after working really hard to prepare for closing or walk away from our new job agreement and hope that in this work environment that we will find other jobs. How insensitive this is on JCPenneys part, especially since the bankruptcy court has already approved the severance. I think JCPenney should pay those who stay until the September 30, 2020 and pull from other stores to close out final days. Everything will be pretty much done except for the selling of merchandise. This is pretty selfish on their part.

Instead of talking to HR, why don’t you all together write a letter to the judge who is handling the case? Anyway he granted their request to pay your severance. You earned that money, not a gift.
Talking to HR doesn't make a difference, HR is there to protect the company not primarily the employees
Do i work at jc penny.....come on man .........
My store is not closing but i have to say that is a disgrace on JcPenneys part. You need to push this issue with your HR division person if you think it may get you anywhere. On my part I intend to share this with other associaties in my store.
