Thread regarding JCPenney layoffs

Can I be certain my store is not closing?

My store is an anchor to one of the few malls that are still going strong and we still have surprisingly good sales. Can I take this as a sign that we are safe from closing any time soon or is even that not enough to be certain, considering the new ownership?

I'm just really tired of being constantly worried...

Again, who owns your mall? That is the best way to predict your fate (right now)

Who owns your mall? That should help you answer this question.

Nothing is guaranteed. Stop worrying & go into work everyday and be happy. If they close, you will find another job.

Now more then ever before how well your store does in sales is a moot point. Most store closings have to do with lease agreements and property ownership. I challenge anyone to prove a mall is “ still going strong “. Every mall out there is having serious issues. Some malls have been better at masking issues because they have been creative with month to month leases. Some have a type of image they are trying desperately to keep. I live very close to a high end mall and before Covid came about 12 stores permanently closed by the end of February. One was a major anchor store. Those stores remain empty. I guarantee the spots get filled with nail salons and phone fix it repair places. That’s when everything starts to go downhill.

There is no new ownership...yet.
Everything keeps getting stalled!
