Management Shifts?

Maybe I was just too young to notice when I started out but I felt like my managers were intelligent and knowledgeable. But I feel like each new manager I get is more and more clueless yet more confident. It seems that their confidence is perceived... — read more

Why am I seeing so many retirements?

I separated from exxon in March so I have no idea whats going on internally but all of a sudden my LinkedIn is flooded with retirement posts. If interest rates are high doesnt that mean retirement is less attractive? Or what am I missing?

The ratio of hard-working people and dead weight

There are still talented and knowledgeable people here, but when you consider the number of useless managers and those employees who in the past probably couldn't even get a job here, the number of hard-working talented people would be shockingly... — read more

The line…

The line to take Cube pics is wrapped around the building. My LinkedIn feed is almost exclusively XOM retirements and resignations. Wait until the bonuses get deposited, then the line will wrap around the campus. Good job DW! Mission Accomplished... — read more

Process for hollowing out a company

When things start to go bad, the people with the most options on the outside leave first. That leaves the good people who see the problems but think they can help fix them. Eventually those people get burned out when the change doesn't materialize... — read more

I keep flying under the radar

It used to be important to me what decisions our leadership makes, I thought it was very important to speak up against bad ideas, I was frustrated by the rise of mediocrity, but now... Now I pretty much don't care at all. I think it is best to accept... — read more

I don't get the logic behind it

As far as I know, the process of hiring new employees who need a lot of training costs the company MUCH MORE than motivating the existing employees to stay here. Isn't that right? EM obviously has different reasoning for their decisions.

I regret putting in any effort at all

I feel cheated. I mean, I love my job and I would probably put in a lot of effort anyway, but top performers being NSIed is disappointing. Admittedly, EM doesn't deserve top performers and the best people for a long time now. It bothers me how they... — read more

Outsourcing

I'm getting tired of hearing about more jobs being moved to cheaper countries. EM's main cost-cutting strategy seems to be outsourcing. How long do they plan to keep leaving Americans jobless just to save a few bucks? Until there's nobody but the ELT... — read more
