Two weeks' notice

Why is everyone giving a two weeks' notice? Ain't I a free man and can leave any time? I want to maximize the time between jobs. I can't postpone the starting day at my next company forever. So, the day I sign the contract, I would like to quit... — read more

Joining next month on G10

I heard Grades 11+ and 45yr+are the ones where filtering starts to happen for LR? How much of is this true ?

There is a probably a file on all of us !

I was kicked out (you can call it LR or whatever) few years back. I fought hard and ended up getting 2.5 times the severance pay. It became really nasty and I turned quite a few people upside down ! Earlier this year, I interviewed for a lucrative... — read more

It's not Age Discrimination

I work in Legal in one of the USA offices. I will be the first to say that everyone on this board is 100% incorrect about Cisco being guilty of age discrimination. So many people on this site are complaining because they got LR'd (very sorry to... — read more

Employee Data @Cisco

Has anybody ex-Cisco employee tried getting what data Cisco has collected about the employee and how have they been using it. As part of GDPR/CCPA compliance they are supposed to provide it, just curious has anybody tried getting there data. And has... — read more

Once restructured, you will look back and wonder why you wasted time wondering about what you would finally do; once restructured.

How long before replacements start arriving?

You know, all the 20-something, straight-out-of-college, cheap new employees who are supposed to take over from people who had decades of experience and practical knowledge? Because if that doesn't scream "we are committed to longevity and... — read more

Voicea, a game changer

Cisco Plans To Acquire Voicea For Webex ‘Game-Changer’ ‘Voicea's true market-leading technology will be a game-changer for our Webex customers to experience more productive and actionable meetings,’ says Amy Chang, senior vice president and... — read more

People don't Realize

I'm a 18 year veteran at Cisco. What people on this board don't realize is that the higher ups make LR decisions that benefit the company and not individual employees. If you get let go it's stressful and not fun. But that level of stress is nothing... — read more

Hope high level management can see this.

My team has two person left last year, so we got two new hires. This time, one team member was impacted. This kind of layoffs may not be necessary in many cases, if we have a better plan. It is really simple. Let the manager know that headcount is... — read more

How do you know US is done for now?

I see people saying with confidence here that US is done for this quarter - or at least for this layoffs round. How do you know? I really want to believe you, the last thing I need is to stress even more about more possible cuts this week, but there... — read more

4000 - is the confirmed layoff figure

Many rumors of 5000 people or 5/6% or 3000 people we let go. But confirmed figure stands at 4000. Many affected region is RTP n east coast. SJ is second in line. Many fresher n interns are rejecting offers from Cisco.

Remember when...

Back in May and again in June I posted several things that many respondents refused to believe: 1) SEs would see a pay cut 2) Major lay-off where Services and sales (specifically sp sales) would take and extra hard beating 3) the SE titles would... — read more

Is it over for US LRs?

I did not receive and 1:1 invite from my manager till now. Can I assume that am not on the cull list for this LR? I could not concentrate since Tuesday. Two of my buddies got impacted. They were top performers and well-liked folks

#wearecisco = #youarefired

Unfortunately it's embedded in the culture now. Like a d–g the ELT and CFO can't get enough of to perform 2 functions: 1) to make an immediate impact on the bottom line by cutting OPEX and paying off folks in lump sums; and 2) to cull the herd of... — read more

LR@EMEAR?

Are there any rumors on how this will be performed, and which teams will be affected?

Internal Job Openings

Here's how internal job openings work after a LR. Let's say for example team A has two people effected. One is a low grade and the other is a high grade. Team B has 3 people let go. On chopping day all five people receive notices. Now what happens is... — read more

How does the LR process work?

I mean who decides who gets let go? Is it all on the manager to make the cuts or are they told from above who they need to let go? Who decides if it's the lower grades to chop or the higher grades? Who decides how many people in a org get let go and... — read more

Curious - In the Last Episode of LR's (2018) , ELT sobbed and tearfully insisted that LRs would have first dibs on internal jobs

We still have internal "apparent" open reqs all over the place. Beginning to doubt if they are real . I know top engineers and professionals, internal and external, who have applied or been recommended to dozens of Cisco jobs who never get a call... — read more

This is bordering on unethical if not immoral

It doesn't matter your level of performance at CSCO – your direct manager only has so much sway and often is just told who and when to whack people based on decisions that were made layers up. It is about as brutal as it can be, with some teams... — read more

How much more of this can we take?

Mental Health and Stress Management

The thick irony is how much our CEO talks about how Mental Health is a major crisis in this country – and yet, this persistent bi-annual threat never abates. The stress this causes most Cisco workers is very real – and they just shove it down... — read more

Numbers

I think it's a 4% reduction for the USA only - add 2 or 3 percent for the worldwide ops, you are easily looking at a 6%-7% global headcount loss when they are all done cutting.
