Cisco requires a activist shareholder

The only way this is going to change is if someone loves Cisco enough to change it from ways the employees could not due to the people (Chuck) in the ivory tower. Maybe if Cisco stock hit 30 or 25 and takes our market Cap to 100 billion would be... — read more

thank you for the memories Sydney tac

spent a wonderful few years working here and made some life long friends. The commitment to customer service was unrivalled, often working long hours and thinking about customer issues into the night. There has been a heavy focus on customer... — read more

Step out Transition

I've had my webex with my manager and HR, i've been informed my position is at risk. I plan on declining the step-out transition leave, does this mean its a formality and i will lose my job? Or is there a risk they could change their mind and i would... — read more

All of SJ TAC, save for 2 teams, has been LR'd

Got the notice today. Literally every team in SJ TAC, besides 2 (newest techs, fill-in-the-blank), has been LR'd. All managers, including the 2 teams that stayed, have also been LR'd. SJ workforce moving to outsourced support.

LR option- StepOut Transition leave (STL)

How does this work if we already have offer within Cisco ? Do i still need to pick a date Oct30 or Nov 23 ? Or just done sign and transition as its done regularly? You will be offered a 30 days pay-in-lieu, and 2 months of Monthly Base... — read more

Yes, it is here

Package overall is decent, if not good: 6 months + 1 week per year >= 10. Compared to that id–tic retirement package, this is good. Cisco just can't be generous. The aforementioned years must be "completed". That is, if this year is your 12th year... — read more

new h1-b rules and layoffs

No personal hate for H1-Bs here. But I am curious if all H1-Bs were laid off considering the huge number of American citizens that lost their jobs. If any H1-B remains (unless they are genuinely the very best) we may have a problem given the new... — read more

EMEAR Impacts

Based in Collaboration BU. Got e-mail notification this evening so impacted by LR. What I heard is that it will be a big bang approach, so hopefully wont dribble-on for days\weeks. Don't think there will be the usual lag between US and EMEAR this... — read more

How could we keep the good Cisco traditions

Dear common employess and ELT, I like traditional Cisco people, I am sad to see many veterans to leave. Most of them are good people I believe. My question is that with their leaving, how could we keep the good traditions to keep company quality?... — read more

An outsider view

Complete outsider looking in and from previous layoffs at other employers, you are 99.9% safe in my opinion. I was the top performer on my team back in the 2009-2010 layoffs at a former employer. Managers had to schedule 1:1 meetings with all... — read more

So long

No hard feelings from me. I enjoyed my time here, made some lifelong friends, and saved up enough that will, together with severance, let me relax for a while before deciding what my next step will be. Good luck everybody, especially those who are... — read more

October 30 or November 22

If I got this correctly, the package is exactly the same in both cases? So then why give two end dates? Why would anybody choose October 30 when the alternative is a (nearly) extra month of pay while being able to search for a new job? What am I... — read more

ER deadline shift to late October?

Has anyone in a sales/SE role heard that the ER decision was extended to late October? I did from two people. It's unclear if that means a new round of LRs will be needed in late October to account for the ER candidates who do not accept and stay. ... — read more

RIP Sydney TAC (1:many)

Got the news today for our whole team and multiple others. More than likely Cisco TAC Sydney will not exist past the new year.

It could be worse

At least Cisco is offering decent severance packages, some companies are using the pandemic as an excuse to stiff their employees any way they can, including by reducing and sometime even not offering severance. There's a lot wrong with this company... — read more

This will be the rest-of-the-week affair

Don't expect to see this end today and don't believe you're safe just because you survived this wave. There are too many people on the list for them to get this over with in a day. Plus, was there ever a Cisco layoffs that didn't take more than a... — read more

Contractor - Out the door

I know contractors are always the first on the chopping block, but still unpleasant when the axe falls. No package, of course, just a conversation with the recruiters to hopefully find somewhere else before the quarter ends.
