Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Join Virtual Sales (RTP)?

I’m considering a manager position with GVS in RTP- yes, I know this is a layoff site, but I’m looking for information about long term potential. Is GVS a high layoff team? What is the general turnover like? Pay seems good, but I’m wary to join due to all the layoff rumors. Thanks in advance.

It's quite sad someone who is taking on a new opportunity in their career is concerned about getting laid off before they even start...

Calm down, @2spq+17ZSRzqN 😂 You literally have no idea what point this person is in the interview process, or how many other people are in the running. Based on this thread, though, OP has probably run far far away (shout out to whoever called GVS a call center)

You’ve probably already been identified by leadership and leaders as having posted that question on this site. BAD move for making it so obvious who you are. Unless of course they are hiring for multiple identical positions in the same location.
Doh!

Cisco has constant reorgs. GVS could be renamed Next-Gen GVS or GVS Transformation under new Vice Presidents. The VPs are selected based on their status in the Good Ol' Boys club. Not skills or accomplishments... think 1980's Soviet Union culture

GVS will be renamed a few more times after the latest buzzwords. After three or four organizational name changes, the division will eventually undergo significant layoffs. The VPs will rotate to a different division and be promoted to SVP.

What grade do account and regional managers usually come in at? Are manager positions in this org at any more risk of layoff or turnover than other teams generally?

GVS and GVE are a joke. It's basically call center reps for low level accounts.

Avoid at all costs, any other part of Cisco but GVS. The leadership is highly political and unpleasant.

I wouldn't relocate for a job at Cisco.

I worked in that group and there are some good people there. The risk is as any team in Cisco can be hit at any time. If you stay long enough you will be laid off so plan accordingly. Negotiate a higher salary and bonus. Consider the loss of income you will have during your layoff when comparing other companies.
