when outsourcing agency tries to sell you your old Cigna Job

This might be entertaining to some.

A friend of mine was interviewing for a new role and got asked 3 specific questions: why he left his previous job at Cigna, and if he still had a good relationship with them. Then interviewer asked why he thinks Cigna laid off a lot of people and the friend told them about HIH and how most Cigna IT jobs moved to India.

The interviewer explained that they were building a US-based team specifically for a Cigna client account, and he would need to interact with them regularly.

The funny part is, my friend’s skillset is highly niche, and Cigna only has one specific team that uses this tool. When the interviewer started laying out the specific systems he'd be maintaining, my friend casually replied, "Yeah, I was one of those who built those."

The agency was unknowingly trying to hire him back into the exact same team he had just left.

Anyone with similar experience. Is Cigna finally realizing their mistakes?

@j9 yes and no. The contractors are technically cheaper because although the base pay is higher, Cigna is not paying benefits for them. They also see it as advantageous to be able to cut them at any time without needing to worry about severance.

It’s still messed up, just making the correction as to what the deal is in the grand scheme.

Yes that's accurate. They laid off people and now bring in contractors to do the same work while paying them more. It's ridiculous.

@a8 I dont think the rate is lower. My friend won’t even entertain it if it is (but i could be wrong). Also, from what he told me it’s a full time permanent position and employer is not Cigna. I was confused at first too, and thought the hiring manager is from Cigna.

@ac the title says outsourcing agency, and that resource will need to interact with cigna employees, so im assuming it’s not a direct cigna hire

The interview was with Cigna or a third-party? Companies have to pay much higher price to the third-parties but somehow it is a preferred method?!

@OP I guess the pay is much less than your friend’s current salary, right?

Apparently HIH isn't going well. Anyone with a brain could see this a mile away. Heard rumors of them even canning it.
