Why are we paying people to sit in meetings where nothing is ever decided and laying off good folks who actually do the work here? BP has plenty of fat that needs to be cut, but somehow it's never them who end up on the chopping block. When will that finally change?

Meg needs to visit a Thunderhorse or Atlantis development meeting. Then fire 25% of the participants who’s sole job is posturing and slowing work down…save $6,000,000 yearly in addition to higher production and reliability
@OP I agree with you. For years there are protected layers of roles that add very little value, while the people who actually deliver the work take the hit.
We’ve had whole groups sitting in meetings where nothing gets decided and plenty of workshops follow the same trend. Yes, this time some senior leaders are finally being culled which is long overdue but the real question is whether it goes far enough. If bp genuinely wants to become simpler and leaner, the change has to reach the parts of the organisation that slow everything down, not just the people who keep the business running.
This is about incentives. These parasites 🦠 stay because that’s the bp culture…as bp gets leaner this people will insure they throw hard working staff under the bus…and the cycle repeats. The 700 people bp fired were not all Lazy or inept…many were from different eras or thought they would not adjust to MO’s direction. Interestingly, the selection committee never contemplated doing a 700 personnel cull on their own…lots of favoritism going on…expect technical difficulties in the new Paleogene developments…under production and technical he-l.
