Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

18 replies (most recent on top)

So the Wednesday Corp Comms Meeting isn't happening anymore due to a speaker "scheduling issue". Only a few hours ago, someone posted that they were going to ask about the layoffs in the original meeting. It's VERY CLEAR that the leadership is monitoring these threads. Instead The Comms Executive leader is doing one-on-one leadership meetings to check in on morale....This is all a joke at this point..tell us if we are getting cut or not. Xfinity already had some small restructures in how they work; no job loss as of yet, but everyone is now talking to each other to get piece together the truth from leadership's lack of transparency.

The morale is beyond low. I have had a better time in a funeral home

Word on the street is, someone is going to ask the layoff question in the Q3 Corporate Comms Meeting. God Speed to whomever has the stones to do that.

@gg the disparity between hours worked across roles across teams/leaders is insane. I dream of even working just 40 hours a week (currently way over that)

@g5 I knew a few people last year that said FTS and quit without the package. How smart they were. People, understand what you’re signing. Severance terms basically allow post-employment governance over you forever for just a few months of money. Some areas are against indefinite terms because you’re essentially signing under duress because you need money, and jobs know that and have the upper hand. But for forever, and depending on the terms you sign, you can’t say certain things, apply to certain jobs (including companies they later acquire), will be forced to cooperate with them for investigations against them or onboarding others etc, not to mention you can’t bring any claims. Look, I’m no specialized employment lawyer and this is not legal advice but I highly advise that you speak to one and negotiate your severance. Money for a few months in exchange for your rights for forever may not be what you want. Talk to an employment lawyer, negotiate the terms, or just leave it on the table altogether and cut all strings.

I have been at Comcast over 22 years. I was re-orged 3 times in just the last 16 months and I have lost count of the total number of times. This is the worst I have seen it, and I was trying to hang on for a package but it wasn't worth it anymore. I am tired of the 50 hour weeks, the feckless leadership, no accountability, lack of vision, and constant fear that the next reorg or layoff is around the corner. The huge egos of some leaders that also create a toxic environment is a big problem too.

I was talking to a Dir 2 the other day about retirement plans and they told me thy had communicated end of next year, but now they were just going to wait. They said,"Why would i look for another job when i work 20 hours a week and get paid for 40."

My last day was Friday, I decided i couldn't take it anymore and I found another job. It wasn't supposed to be like this. The team will implode. We have lost 11 since last June.

We used to have fun, enjoyed and took pride in what we did. Not anymore. Get out if you're not close to retiring because the job market is flooded and will get worse.

Field Tech Ops is getting burnt out. 90% of workforce gone and they literally have us doing the jobs of 3-4 different positions. Leadership is pretty much non existent. It's the worst I have seen in my 20 yrs here.

I truly hate it here. We’re all waiting around to find out who they slice and dice and we all know it’s coming but they won’t say anything just yet. How are we expected to continue working and acting like everything’s okay when it’s clearly not? How can they expect anyone to want to stick around? The folks who don’t get laid off will certainly try to leave so the company better think about what they can do to keep people.

What about the regions? Last year, they cut division then cut regional public relations and government affairs. Are they cutting those regional depts even more in this layoff after already doing that last year?

Layoff talk is common from every level. Everyone knows it’s coming. No one is even talking about it in secret anymore.

Severance policies are lunchtime conversation now, if that's any indicator.

I've been with Comcast for 20 years and this may be as bad as it's ever been. It's like that in all departments too.
