Can somebody please explain to me why we have so many job openings when so many people are being shown the door? Make it make sense.

@jz I have seen this happen in other firms. I once met a guy who was laid of twice in three years (at two different firms).
Also know anoyjer guy who was laid off twice, but by the same employer. Worked elsewhere for a while. Old employer rehired him (good salary). Laid him off again after two years. Worked elsewhere. After a few years the first employer contacted him, asking him if he would like to come back. That time he politely said thanks, but no. A few years later the original employer had another mass layoff.
I can't figure it out. In the past few layoffs, I know of at least three people shown the door less than a year after they were hired. Either the company hiring practices are crap or they just love hiring people so they can lay them off.
A lot of teams trimed us people this time while their idc people were not impacted at all.
@a4 Yep, build a file of resumes after giving candidates false hope.
OP, you’re being replaced by an incoming H1B from India
ORCL is a revolving door. 10 join 50 fired
It is an illusion ... keep people thinking that there is a future there!

One thing I learned during my time at O: getting a job req posted is easy. Getting the chain of command to approve a job offer is an entirely different matter.
Ghost jobs because they have to show there aren't qualified Americans for a job so they can justify hiring H1B
Replace with less expensive resources.
