Layoffs timeline for year end

If the company were to announce any year-end workforce reductions or restructurings, could anyone clarify what the typical timeline looks like?

Specifically around

Notice Period: How far in advance are affected individuals/teams generally notified prior to an official announcement

Offboarding Timeline: After an announcement is made, what is the typical length of time employees remain active on payroll

@1vy nobody knows but if what Jason Armstrong said during the Goldman Sachs conference is true, then reading the tea leaves it should be happening in the next 2 weeks. My guess is at latest 10/8 or 10/9

The problem is that we have many old entitled leaders who need to leave because they are just wasting space. Rodrigo Lopez is a perfect example of entitlement. No empathy, loves to brag everything about himself, and not available to anyone in CA. There are 3200 of us in our region and we need to speak up. Sadly, we can't because it can be used against us.

@ab Except that Comcast notoriously avoids / works around having to file WARN notices

@kc Comcast lays off in sections or maybe the better word is “surprises.” Division was informed mid-Sept 2025 and it seemed that was it. Then in mid-Oct. 2025, other regional and HQ depts were notified and faced the same “reapply, land a role, or git”like Division.

@jf actually the divisions were notified a year ago in mid September and people had to work through the end of the year knowing they either had to land a new job internally or look elsewhere. All while they were expected to perform their usual duties and create transition plans with HQ

Last mass layoff: announcements were around mid-October 2026. Layoffs took effect Jan. 2026. You worked through that time and had a choice to reapply to newly posted roles or accept the layoff. Funny thing is that some who got the reposted roles last year have been laid off this year. If you didn’t know, there were already massive layoffs under the Tri-State convergence that began either 9/1 or 10/1, though they were informed a month or two before.

Oct 30 is the date mentioned in a previous post. From the sounds of it, the impact will be significant (in the thousands across the company). Expect bulk layoffs where employees are informed of terminations with no notice via “rip the bandaid off” mode. Prepare for change; update your resume, re-activate your network and ensure emergency funds secured.

November is usually the time when the ace falls. Seen it happen a week or 2 before Thanksgiving. Happy Holidays!!

I’d expect any notices to be given so actual termination dates fall before the end of the year, that is til the next round of cuts

Depends if it falls within a WARN notice or just a small group. Small group/team might give 30 days, a WARN 60-90 days.
