Here's some of what AI delivered me with that prompt:

An effective reorganization strategy for AT&T must address its massive corporate infrastructure by reducing unnecessary management bloat, aligning with its modern corporate shift toward a leaner telecom core, and reversing the morale drag caused by controversial Return-to-Office (RTO) mandates.

The following strategic reorganization blueprint is designed to flatten the hierarchy, optimize operations, and rebuild cultural trust.🏢 Structural Overhaul & Flattening Management LayersAT&T historically operates with a heavily layered, bureaucratic structure. The target goal is to move from 8–10 levels of hierarchy down to 5 layers between the front line and the CEO.

  1. Delayering the Middle Management BloatEliminate the "Shadow Management" Tier: Cut down redundant Assistant Vice President (AVP) and Director-level roles within regional and functional silos. Many of these tiers serve as informational relays rather than operational decision-makers.Increase Span of Control: Mandate a corporate minimum Span of Control (SoC) of 1:8 (one manager to at least eight direct reports) for corporate functions. For retail and field operations, push the SoC to 1:15+.Consolidate Support Functions: Fully execute the consolidation of fragmented internal operations (such as IT help desks and regional HR networks) into unified, cross-functional service centers, reducing localized management overhead.

Eliminate levels of management that are even numbers (2nd, 4th, 6th) and no-one makes over $250,000.00 at any level including the CEO. Offer a respectful buyout at 30 years to keep younger motivated employees around instead of the routine layoffs of the future employees. Mandatory retirement at 40 years of service again, for the future employees.

“Lay off anyone that has been at At&T longer than 7 years, the likelihood they’re bringing any new ideas to the table are zero, they’re just seat warmers at a high cost to the company’s image and innovation”
