Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It could be worse

My wife, who worked remotely for another telecom, woke up a few months ago to find all her access revoked before she even saw the termination email. She got no warning, and they certainly didn't bother with a conversation. Just an early morning cold email and silence. Even Verizon isn't that much of an a--hole.

Ridiculous…anyway more reasons for desk workers to go remote. https://mlq.ai/news/verizon-discloses-1-billion-plus-google-dark-fiber-deal-across-several-routes/

‘ A second part of the strategy uses Verizon’s real estate rather than only its long-haul network. The carrier is removing legacy copper equipment from many telephone central offices and retrofitting some of the buildings as small data centers with power, permits and redundant infrastructure already in place.’

@13k It's simple. Delete your browsing history for the last 15 minutes then re-downvote if again repeatedly to feign consensus. Or, do something useful and get a job.

@e4 don’t understand why this comment is mostly arrows down, it’s CORRECT. bd VZ know that which is why they now have 3 hubs (which they should reduce to 1, BR) and further save money on leases, electricity, plumbing, bad coffee anyway, non- free snack machines. If someone isn’t working, remote work makes that VERY clear. If you think people aren’t working, you were never truly measuring what mattered, they had a BS job no one cared about anyway, or YOU’RE the BS ‘manager’ who spent their days on endless team meetings, 1:1s, and cubicle patrolling/parading.

@e4 nobody is working. Companies are losing $$$ from all the idleness. Guess who that will affect as they cannot sustain it for long - you.

If they want to really save money, everyone should work from home.

@a5
I've always wondered what script do they say on those calls?

I’d be fine with that. I don’t need their fake words or worse yet going to office to hear it in person. Send me an email.

The phone calls don't last that long here and they are all just reading the same note to avoid legal issues. Getting let go su-ks. Sorry man!
