Hi all, there seems to be some misunderstanding with what grade vs L1 etc means. Pay grade starts from one and goes higher. Like phone reps are hired at grade 2 then you can climb the corporate ladder to get to maybe 7.
L1 etc is how many levels below Abby you are. So L1 is someone reporting directly to Abby and L6 or whatever would be someone in the mailroom.

OP is mostly right… L6 in mailroom might be a funny exaggeration (or he/she didn’t realize how big Fidelity has grown to). why so many haters…

There isn't a 1:1 relationship betwee teporting hierarchy and grade level. Of course generally speaking the higher you go the higher the level, but there are many examples of VPs reporting to VPs, etc. This happens over time after reorgs, people getting promoted, hiring people at certain grades to get them in the door etc....then after some time there's usually some sort of re-leveling or flattening of the org.
Entry-Level/Lower Tiers -> L1–L3
Mid-Levels -> L4–L5
Senior Levels -> L6+
Director is 7
VP is 8
SVP is 9
EVP is 10
