USAA doesn't really lay off people as much anymore. They just make your life miserable until you leave quietly. Pay attention for a while and you'll see I'm right.

this is fairly accurate. leadership ensures pay increases are poor and that upward mobility is just not there
I know this is going to shock the SATX contingent of 20+ year employees - but most large finance services companies cut the bottom 10% regularly. It happens either through RIF or making an employee’s life miserable so they quit.
Who cares about a bad boss or someone in your team who makes you miserable. At the end of the day, it's just a job, leave the baggage in the office and enjoy life. Life is short to be miserable.
@OP This is me, the first 20 years of my career here we awesome. The past few have been a nightmare. Decided to start looking elsewhere, don't care if I make half as much, it's not worth my nosediving mental health.
What makes you say this? The most recent layoff was last month. Certain areas (mainly member contact) use quiet firing techniques but that isn't anything new or recent.
