She said, "the fact that four out of five of the folks who are going to move on from Centene were part of the VSP". If 61,000 were offered the VSP, and 4 out of 5 are taking it, then Centene is losing approximately 48,000 of its workforce! How is that going to help the members who have put their trust in this company? And if members now cannot speak with a real person and have to deal with the frustration of off-shore call-centers and automated bots, the future looks even worse for our most vulnerable members.

You don’t have enough information to do the math. We have no idea how many people applied for the VSP. Maybe it was only 15% maybe it was 40%. We have no idea. All she is saying is they had a reduction target and if that most of it will be cared for through voluntary separation and a small part involuntary separation.
It sounded like she put an emphasis on the “V” of VSP, as opposed to ISP.

We were not given the number of VSPs therefore, you cannot solve the equation. So your math is way off
Not all 61,000 employees were offered the VSP, if they have only been working with Centene after mid September 2024, they were not offered the VSP.

@a7 IF we took what they said during the eQPI town hall (7.48% of those offered took the VSP) and we did the math based on all 61k employees that would put us at about 4,600 people 20% more would mean they need to eliminate about 1,200 more. But without the exact number of people that were offered VSP there’s really no knowing exactly how many people will be involuntarily laid off.
@a6 we have to also keep in mind bcuz that due to ACA subsidies were not renewed that we also lost 2.6 million ACA members also. This is Healthcare it happens everytime there are policy and Healthcare regulation changes. Its not always possible to maintain a steady employment when there are changes like this. Ive been in Healthcare for 30 plus years and 2 prior layoffs. It is what it is...
No. That is not what they ment. They know how many people need to go. They offered most staff the VSP understanding a small portion will take it. The amount of people that took the VSP accounts for 4 out of 5 (80 %) of all they know who will need to go. Therefore, people will still need to go. Take the number of people that took the VSP ( if we will ever know) divide it by 4 and you will get the remaining number of people that will still get the axe.

Yes, we have 60K (ish) employees. But she's not saying what 5 out of 5 (100%) comes out to.

Where is anyone getting that 61,000 number? Is there a written source or anything? I keep looking where they documented a percentage or cut count and honestly can’t find it anywhere.
@a4 She was plenty clear. "4 out of 5 people who will be leaving, will leave because of the VSP." That's perfectly clear that it means out of their total layoff target, 80% is from VSP and the other 20% is from layoff.
It seemed like they really do not care about the mental anguish they put us through. That London calling seemed very oblivious to how the workforce here has been treated. The laughing and joking was very appalling and in poor taste.

I think Sarah needs to be "transparent" and make a CLEAR statement of what is going to happen. This just goes to show how when things are not explained clearly, they can be misinterpreted and misconstrued.

That's not exactly what she said. She said four out of five people that are going to be moving on are doing so through the vsp. That means four out of five positions that they are going to cut were cut with the vsp.
