Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

New London Calling

I encourage you all to watch the latest episode. While they didn’t state official reduction numbers, Sarah did allude that 4/5 people laid off will be from the VSP.

For an example, if the reduction goal is 5000 individuals then approx 1000 individuals will be laid off involuntarily.

Of course it is still vague information, but hopefully it helps some of you who are worried about an equally wide-spread involuntary RIF.

@a2 They said people who will be involuntarily let go (laid off) will be notified the first week of August. The people who were offered VSP were almost all accepted except those in a critical role. For those whose VSP application was approved, they will have staggered end dates of 9/4 through 12/11 depending on how long it takes to transfer knowledge, etc. depending on their role.

@a5 what can we ask our PL?? They are a number just like us, with families, with debt, with hopes and dreams !!! Some are just egocentric and only care about themselves but some are good ppl like us or at least most of us in healthcare that came to this industry with the hope of helping ppl !!! There is nothing they can answer for us…. Whatever will be will be !!! Do your job and hope for the best and the best might just be that you are laid off !!! Believe it or not, there is ALWAYS a silver lining ❤️

Don’t forget about all the jobs that they plan on outsourcing to vendors and overseas. I still see a lot of layoffs in the future.

Just slipped in that “4 out of 5” comment like it’s no big deal. Still room for more people to lose their jobs. Also no discussion of the extended end dates. Truly believe that the goal of the whole VSP program from the get go was for as many people to quit on their own instead of riding out the severance waiting period. There’s only two things the C Suite folks care about: stock price and their bonuses. The rest of us are just indentured servants who serve at their whim. To think they care about any employee is delusional.

@a5 they aren’t saying anything because we’re all on the same chopping block with little to no info

Thanks, but yeah still doesn’t calm the nerves. Curious to know what questions are we asking out People Leaders with regards to this? And what answers have you gotten?

What about for departments with not a lot of employees who took VSP?

@a1 they accepted pretty much all the applications for VSP and because of the large amount of people who accepted the VSp, there won’t be as many involuntary layoffs. Unfortunately, layoffs are still going to happen in August.

But they are still going to do layoffs. So Anyones job is at risk which isn’t a great feeling. Yes, it’s great that there won’t be as many layoff but we are also losing a large chunk due to VSP. They just need to say who’s getting laid off already and stop messing with people’s minds and causing ongoing fear. It’s ridiculous.

I thought she meant they accepted 4 out of 5 VSP applications. But I could be wrong. No mention about the dates
