I was approved for VSP with a 3/19/27 separation date. The email says my severance benefits will be recalculated based on years of service as of 1/31/27. Anyone know why this is not calculated based off my time at the company as of my actual separation date?

That’s a really great question. I’m a March 2027 departure too. Raises take effect around that time in March as well, but likely won’t be included since our calculation is based off of pay/time for Jan 2027. Bonuses typically are paid out in March. My question is, if my offer includes my bonus, but the bonus is paid out before my separation date, why should I have to wait for it? I also don’t trust them not to push the date back further since we don’t sign anything until right before.
My date is 03/19/2027 too!! I don't really know how to feel right now.. other than I don't know if I can handle trying to wait that long with how much this whole situation has been draining my mental health. I don't know if I want to sign anything. The bad feeling I had of them trying to get people to leave before having to pay severance seems to be true. IMO it would have been better if they laid off the people who they wanted to lay off instead of freaking everybody out and now making people wait 8 months, a year for the severance pay. It just feels like mind games

@OP Because the original "offer" was severance based on May 2026...with alleged separation dates of Sept 2026
They're not going to snapshot it on 03/19/2027. the snapshot is going to be a date PRIOR to actual separation date. bummer, I know.
You may get an extra 2 weeks for staying until March 2027.
Raises take effect in March/April, right???
