Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

2nd Job

I’m thinking about secretly taking a non IT job without Fidelity knowing, as I don’t think it’s any of their business. Has anyone done this?

Will they find out, and if they do, what are the repercussions?

I really need the extra income. My husband left and between the bills and the mortgage, I’m struggling to make ends meet.

As a former Fid Manager; please just disclose it. You will not be punished if you do, but you will be fired if you do not. Fidelity has a fiduciary duty to ensure that you are not exposed to nor privy to any information that could lead to insider trading. If your side gig is literally nothing that can give you insider trading then Fidelity DOES NOT CARE. I can promise you. But if you do not disclose then you are putting the company at risk for your SS NUMBER SHOWING UP ON AN AUDIT. And then you will be fired.

You need to disclose it. The regulatory nature around Fidelity means they need to know pretty much any source of income you have to make sure it won't get them in trouble for some reason.

Failure to do so and they find out, and they will, means you'll likely be fired.

Looks like you need the $. Disclose it. If you get paid legally, it will show up on their scans. They get payroll data. It will be not be an issue disclosing it. It takes 5 minutes. Don't take the risk. I understand it's annoying. I mean the family has their hands in 50 thousand cookie jars but we have to disclose even if we volunteer at our kids school.

You can take a second job but you have to disclose that as outside business activity to make sure it is not conflicting with fidelity policies.
