Is this a coincidence or was this part of the mass layoffs?

still insensitive that she is allowed to stay until the end of year, with a new CISO starting who has barely touched or unraveled poor strategic and tactical Cybersecurity planning or reason why certain Cybersecurity investments were made. Asset asset ownership has been broken across silos. Initiatives have never been operationalized over multiple years. Platforms still have multi-year exclusions, vulnerability rescoring are years old?
never reviewed. Promotions given to developers who don't know secure coding practices. Distinguished Engineers who were hired because they were beer buddies with a Senior Director. Senior Directors more focused on their ego and blog posts. Associate Directors that were promoted but don't any actual work.
Lost all respect for her handling it this way. Made 1000 people lose sleep so she could have her self-congratulatory going away party.
retiring, what has she accomplished that the previous CISO didn't accomplish. SBOM fail, no strategic initiatives, relied on ADD Senior Directors that made poor security investment decisions?
Even if it was a coincidence, it is extremely insensitive to announce her retirement while 3000+ are being laid off today.
