Has anyone heard whether Meridian (a subsidiary of Centene) will be affected by VSP or future layoffs? I'm relatively new and I heard a rumor here in Michigan that we are canned!

They are losing contracts in both MarketPlace and Medicaid along with membership. The VSP went to 61,000 employees, however, I did notice that it hasn't stopped them from hiring tons of new external employees during their made up "hiring freeze". Seen people posting on FB that they were being interviewed just 2 weeks ago for a "big project" for Claims Analyst II positions.
@OP where did you hear this rumor?
Centene has not issued a formal, public WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice. Instead of traditional layoffs, the health insurer is currently offering broad voluntary buyout packages to a large portion of its staff in an effort to restructure and cut expenses following a steep drop in Affordable Care Act (ACA) membership.
@a5 so this affects the Commercial plans also?
It’s Nationwide there are no snowflakes
Medicaid plans will be 100% affected. The rest and corporate will be affected as well
I believe this applies to everyone. I haven’t heard of any plans that are excluded from this nightmare. FYI they did not give my team a warn notice and we are marketplace….
A WARN notice would be issued. Do your research about your specific plan before inducing panic or fueling rumors.
