All managers of sites concerned have been told to make a list. Voluntary RIF Notifications to go around the end of November to early December with terminations taking place by mid to end of January. like before people will be given the option to voluntarily apply. The candidates will be chosen by the end of December and people will be notified the beginning of January

@c6 the RIF 7 years ago they offered the vRIF first…I know two people who raised their hand, one was told he was not eligible because he was ‘critical’. I had a suspicion they thought he was halfway out the door, because he left shortly after without the severance package that the vRIF would have provided.

Personally, after witnessing that, I would advise against raising your hand even if you want out

From all the posters so far, sounds like impact is to ops and manufacturing.

I believe anyone, not hitting the RTO target has submitted there voluntary retirement application, Didn;t the RTO email mention this fact? But IDK this company is crazy.

I have been told from someone in HR, that HR form multiple sites have been on a Teams call last night. Looks like the gears of RIF's are slowly turning. Not too sure what to make from that as not further information was given as to the content of the meeting, but they did hint that, something similar happened last time there was RIF's.

@c6 there have been voluntary separations (not retirements) offered in the past. Not every time there is a RIF but sporadically.

@bm Been with MDT 25 years, working in three different functions. And I know a bit about RIF’s since I was let go 7 years ago (then returned). They did not let any of us volunteer. Also, VERG is not available to just anyone, you need to be age qualified.

@bx could you expand on “selective packages” ? Do you mean the usual 2 week pay per years service or a better deal being offered? Thanks!

Not surprised, RIFs and selective packages rumours are running around our campus, I'm sure something is coming. Likey before the end of the year

The company is large enough that some org is always going to through a rif or reorg.

If you really want to say something, provide a bu or ou. Otherwise this is just same old same watercooler bs.

"I’ve not heard of ‘voluntary RIF.’ Are you referring to voluntary retirement?"

Then you've not been here very long. The company gives people a chance to raise their hand for a seperation package. If accepted they leave, and that leaves less forced RIF for the departments to enact. There are usually functions that are not allowed to volunteer, and any indiviaul emplyoee can have their request denied if they are considered critical. Basically its a way to avoid as much involuntary terms as possible... and it is distinct from the VERP - with this program pretty much anyone is eligible.
