Layoffs are not "announced" like a press release; the 14th is a notification day for those impacted.

Credible sources, or randos?

"My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from a guy who knows a kid who's going with the girl who's a manager who said they're doing layoffs on the 14th. I think it's serious."

14th is a Friday. Fridays aren't popular days to announce layoffs since it creates a longer news cycle into the weekend, and into the next week.
