Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

January layoffs

January layoffs will be massive. Especially in GD where expected cuts in workforce will be between 20 to 30% from each teams. Mostly ranging from A2 to AVP level.

@54f which floor in JAB? There was a group forming in the 3rd floor but it might have been for event unrelated to layoffs.

Anyone seen any action on the 4th floor? I think a few executives are hiding on that floor with AI (All Indians)

@4ej check your inbox. Ron's email on Friday is about upcoming workforce reduction.

@4cj What does the Boston Business Journal article say or unambiguously imply about FUTURE layoffs? My impression that it touched upon Q4 2025 work force reduction only.

@OP Sad to say, but you're spot on. Between Ron’s update and the Boston Business Journal article from yesterday, the writing is on the wall.
The A2-AVP purge seems to be real. I’m an AVP and a top performer, but my manager has turned cold on me while remaining friendly with the VPs. It feels like a setup. I’ve spent the last few years doing the actual work for incompetent VPs to get promoted, only to get targeted for reduction while they stay safe. Unbelievable

@OP I read all these replies and get anxiety! So happy to be gone from this place. Laid off last year and couldn’t be happier!

In November, many people from Alpha were transitioned into GD. I'm doing more work now than ever before but there's lack of direction and leadership. I feel layoffs are coming with the uncertainty.

The VP I report too is being pull into 'transformation' meetings, but doesn't disclose anything. And during our 1-on-1's, he rushes through it to get it over with. I think I'm a goner. The only thing that he's concern is team attendance. My guess is the company is trying to find any data points (excuses) to terminate roles. Fornuately for me, I put in more time in the office than anyone else in my team. I feel like they are constantly looking for things to nitpick and make you feel unwanted so that you can quit instead.

@az I doubt you are correct stating that there are at most 49 layoffs per month. There were months with hundreds of layoffs.
I tend to distrust information on this forum about future layoffs. No sources, no specific references. Almost all layoff "predictions" on this forum have turned out to be false. Sorry for this grim assessment.

@c7 again that might be a target by EOY or something. They might cut X% but only do 48 at a time.

@bq got it. Im curious what 20 to 30% of GD equates to. Must be more than 50.

@az they do a series of small layoffs of less than 49 people at a time. Basically if you lay of 48 people one month, then the next month you can do another 48 and no WARN.
