El Segundo Office to Close

I heard from our AVP and SVP today that all of our department’s roles in El Segundo are being made redundant and backfilled to Dallas. So it’s either pack up your bags and join the herd in Downtown Dallas or leave.

Exactly how bad is it down there in Dallas. I hear the commute, parking, and desks are an issue. How does a Fortune 50 company have such major real estate problems?

This is great news. We need to get out of CA.

@bc This is most likely correct. We have not been told officially but it’s looking likely that we are moving to a place on Sepulveda. They tried a few years ago to “generously” offer to relocate people to Dallas (when it was a lower pay grade) and very few took it. I wouldn’t put anything past these people but they are not leaving now.

Dallas is awful, traffic is horrible nice neighborhoods are extremely expansive. Property taxes are high. Retire if possible and get another job close to home.

I was told that if people are moved from the current El Segundo location, it will be to a leased location a mile or less away.
Not Dallas.

There is plenty of space in the Dallas office buildings. What your accommodations are depends on the floor. Some floors are really nice, others are okay and a few are from the 80’s.
Commute isn’t fun, the toll cost get pricey and the $16 per day to park can be expensive. There are trains available depending upon where you live.
I transplanted here and find the living to be fine.

It's wonderful here in Dallas. We got the spirit of communications "golden boy" in our lobby and everything. Such a beautiful place, it's very disturbing to hear of some distractors rumoring the move of our headquarters, never, ever, gonna happen. Please come and join us, you won't be dissapointed.

Dallas su-ks so hard. Crowded, homeless gauntlet each morning coming in, fighting over desk space, parking is blocks away and you have to pay to park.

I heard folks in El Segundo supposed to move out of DIRECTV bldg to a newly lease office, not Dallas.

It’s great down here. Over 1 million sqft of office space. Plenty of room to get focus work down. Don’t believe what others say. Come visit down here and you will see how great we have it. I am living my best years.
